So, who wants to see this movie? Hopefully there will be sequels, but at any rate, it's based off of Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising series, of which I've only read one book (The Grey King) which I really enjoyed. Like, really enjoyed. I very much want to see this movie when it comes out.

I don't know if I'll watch the movie ... I read those books (all of them) when I was really young, probably over 8 or 9 years ago. I barely remember them ... the movie looks cool in its imagery and effects, but I'm not sure if the lead character (the kid) actor will become another Jake Lloyd (Anakin in Star Wars I - cute, but cheesy and not that great an actor). So I'll wait to read reviews (after the movie is shown in theaters) before I decide if I'll see it.

That's probably a good idea....but reviews will probably be up already by the time it comes out in theaters here, so I won't really have to 'wait' in comparison to you. :D

I read the series... I think there were 5 books in all. I really liked them! I bawled my eyes out during one part of The Grey King. lol
I'll probably want to see the movie! It'd be cool if they complete the series, too.

From the trailer it looks to me like the movie will significantly deviate from the books. Just saying.

Lol, Elenya. I was pretty close to doing the same thing, though it was a while ago that I read it. It was like.....six years ago, maybe?

I haven't read The Dark Is Rising (meaning Book 2), so I wouldn't know how much it deviates, but I like their choice for Will Stanton.

It looks so incredibly cheesey...like, beyond the ultimate cheeseyness. I might see it, but I'll probably wait for it to come out on DVD or sommat.

Dark, the books are very well written although I personally (I emphasize that) have some philosophical issues with it.

Dark, I don't think it compares with Eragon. I don't think anything can compare with Eragon in terms of cheesiness.
