Disney just announced that they want to take on all seven of the books! The next one should be expected in the box office May of '08.

Just heard it on the radio.

That's wonderful.. though they better get a move on if they want to use the same actors from LWW in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, etc. How exciting! Any idea which one is due out in '08?

I am thinking it is Prince Caspian becasuse there is a countdown on the official site. (272 days from now.)

Ben Barnes is playing Prince Caspain.

But after PC they're usiing a different director, cuz Andrew Adamson doesn't want to do anymore. Aaand... after PC, they're coming out May of each year.

How on earth are they going to do one every year? That's, like, speed-filming. They won't be any good if they're gonna make them that fast.

And unrelatedly - I LOVE Ben Barnes. I don't think they could have gotten a better Prince Caspian pretty much EVER.

Yes but LotR had been in Pre-Production for atleast 7 years prior. Not necessarily filming that whole time, since filming took 18 months, but they had still been working on it for a very long time. Overall LotR took about a decade to get all the way out. :)

But I seriously cannot wait for PC to come out. And all TVotDT. That's gonna be cool. Although personally my favourite book is the last battle....but I'll be about 20 years old by the time it comes out. :P

But, they are probably going to be doing pre-stuff for this also, I would assume, and they already have the basics for animals and creatures worked out, so it does not seem that out of the ordinary.

TVotDT was my fav. out of all of them, but the last battle was really cool. I really want to see the bird-like creature in that.

Yeah, you have a point there. I think the only thing they have to worry about is casting. ;) Well that and making all the costumes.

Yep, TVotDT was pretty cool....although I never read it, I was the BBC movie. (which I'm sure didn't do the book justice). Oooh yes I can't wait to see how they do Tash....that shall be very intwesting.

Tash? Is that the name of the freaky bird monster?
I wonder if we are even going to see him.. because he was in a dark room and only ran out for a split second. If they are cheap, they may not even show him.

I really hope not.

Well was this not to be expected? Fantasy film children's books = $$$$$$

As for coming out one a year, that seems a bit optimistic. At least with LOTR they were all set within the same time frame, so they could easily swap between sets each day and storylines and everything. But if the children actors are meant to grow with the roles, filming all 6 films together ain't going to work.

Yes, that is very true, but it is still good news.

Yes, I can see the point for the differences between LotR and CoN, and they do seem to be a bit optimistic, but, at the same time, they arent far fetched. After all, I do not believe the director is going to be recording 40 takes for every scene.

I'm not crazy about Narnia, but I did like LWW and I've grown up with the books. I like that they're making all seven, because I want to see Dawn Treader and Last Battle. They were my favorites. :P

I like Ben Barnes as Caspian. He sounds very passionate, and will play the role well. :)

JF = Ms. Cynical. :teehee: I'm sure Disney doesn't mind the money it's going to pull in. ;) But no one can pull a film like this off without honest passion, so I think that's what the director, writers, and actors have.
I think they can pull off one a year. It's not nearly as long or complex as LotR and if Harry Potter can pull it off I think Narnia can. :)

@ smeagollum - Well all I'm saying is filming three LOTR and 2 POTC films worked because the stories were pretty much set around the same time. Narnia is all over the place, different times, different places, different characters. *shrugs* Just seems a bit crazy to try and attempt one film a year, considering the scale of the productions.

@ Taurquende - Lol, I was actually referring to Disney wanting more films made for the money, not the people who are involved in the actual filming. ;) Well HP haven't actually managed one a year.... Ron dude will be something like 21-22 when they actually finish all the films and he should be 18 had they got one a year released?

Ah, that makes more sense. Well, you can't expect Disney to want to spark a young child's imagination and interest in fantasy unless there's a payoff involved. ;)
Didn't know that about Ron! I gave up on the HP movies long ago. :P But I think you're right, they haven't gotten one a year out...
