I just saw this movie today and I loved it. I wasn't expecting much, as I knew it would have no historical accuracy. I was right about it being almost complete fiction, but it was awesome anyway. The special effects and battle scenes were amazing. And bloody. Reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllllllly bloody. *Cheers*

Trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=TG6FZZY9ciA

Oh, and any David Wenham fangirls will be at least amused, if not drooling all over themselves. :P

Anyone else seen it or planning to see it?

Let see, there are two sex scenes (Between Leonidas and his wife and when a guy is seduced by Xerxes' concubines) you see a lot of skin but it's not that graphic. Certainly nothing major, and rather maturely done. My little brother didn't bat an eyelash, so if you don't giggle when someone says "sex" you should be fine. ;)

My brother's mad excited about this movie.... but I can't see the appeal. I like war-movies too with a good purpose and plot but... the movie seems kind of too dependant on CGI? There are alot of effects, almost too much and it gives the movie such a..... weird look. =/

^Is this before or after seeing it?

The movie does depend on the CGI. If you want a people-driven film with deep, complicated characters, this isn't it. Plus, it's supposed to look like the highly stylized graphic novel that it is based on, and they do a good job of it. The sepia color scheme worked perfectly (IMHO).

Aww. I'm not surprised that it's sold out, as about half of my high school won't stop talking about it, and it just opened today. I was lucky enough to just barely get into a matinee showing.

At least it's going to do well at the box office. :)

EDIT: Upon checking IMDB forums, it seems as though it's selling out everywhere. Go 300!

The trailer at least seems too CGI'd for me.... Yeah, I think I'll skip this one or see what reviews they get. Thanks. :)

What's the movie about exactly? I mean, whats the plot-line? or does it even have one really.

It is a very liberal retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae. If I was to explain it myself I would be typing for days so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Thermopylae

I really, really, really, really, really (ect ect) want to see this.
Frank Miller is a genius and I'm very excited by all the trailers and scenes I've seen so far. It looks visually stunning and a real visceral experience.

you know it really doesn't look all that appeling to me....its looks to animated....to me it looks like good video game graphics.....now idk if it acually does or if its just the preview but personally i don't really care about the movie.

^Allow me to repeat myself: It's supposed to look like the graphic novel.

Phoenix: I'd agree with the genius part. I've both read and seen Sin City, though I'm not sure if I'm willing to shell out 30+ bucks to read 300...

It was stunning. I thought the animation was amazing. The fight choreography stunning. The cinematography deserves an Oscar. *Is drooling*

I was expecting it to be far more brutal than Children of Men but it wasn't. Weird.

I would definetly shell out for the graphic novel. I love Frank Millers eye for visuals and imagery.
