Does anyone know anything about this upcoming movie? It's not due out til the 25th of January over here, and I've yet to see a trailer, but I've heard bits and pieces about it and it sounds interesting. Besides, the title is intriguing enough. ![]() |

I've been kind of on and off about Will Smith, I've only seen him in comedies, and I hadn't had the opportunity to see The Pursuit of Happyness, but it looks good. I could use an action flick (with a plot, hopefully). |

Sounds like its going to be fairly good. I really enjoyed Will Smith's performance in The Pursuit of Happyness, and I expect he'll do just as well in this one. I should probably Wikipedia it.. ![]() |

Yeah, I saw a trailer for this on Monday when I went to see the Golden Compass. Basically, he is the last man on the planet. There has been some huge disaster and New York was in a panic, we see him and his wife and kid, fleeing. Then the next minute he says "day 1000-and-something" and he is looking for other survivors in New York as the only other living thing with him is a dog. And then a caption comes up and says "the last man on earth is not alone". My brother says it's something to do with vampires or zombies. Reminds me a lot of I, Robot actually. Similar kind of character and another bleak looking film. I'm not normally one for disasters when the earth's in trouble, but this looks Ok. |

Oh, I've heard a little about this movie... all the tv spots and such seem to show very little about what it's really like or about. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

From what I've read, a cancer treatment goes horribly wrong, turning most of the Earth's population into vampires, basically. Except for Will Smith's character- he's immune and trying to find a cure for everyone else. I think the movie sounds pretty interesting- I might see it! |

I loved Will Smith in Men in Black, and this movie seems to resemble those movies, rather than The Pursuit of Happyness or Hitch. I'm excited for it, the graphics already look pretty pathetic, but I'll probably go see it anyways. And I love his dog... |

I just saw it yesterday, and it was pretty good. Will Smith was as good as ever in my opinion. The storyline was pretty weak, though. I didn't realize it was about vampires/zombies(?)... so that was a bit weird. The effects weren't best best, either. I enjoyed it, but I don't think i'd watch it again. |

Well, technically, they are not vampires. It's similar to the movie 28 Weeks later/Days later, how they were 'infected'. But I can see, some argue that it is considered in the 'zombie genre'. I got my numbers from wiki, so hopefully, it did not fail me. The cancer treatment goes terrible wrong and kills most of the world's population. Driving humanity into almost extinction. 5.4 billion were immediately killed by the transformed virus. Less than 1% of humans have immunity to the virus which is about 12 million. The 12 million remain unaffected and scattered throughout the world. The rest of the population (roughly 588 million) were infected and changed into a being driven by hunger and rage. They loss all human features. That's why it seems like a virus that infects them. The movie describes it similar to rabies. The movie greatly differs from the book, but the book is how Hollywood today interprets vampirism. (Meaning the whole deal with garlic and vampires not being able to come out into the light.) I saw the movie and I thought it was pretty decent. It could be much better, but I believe, the cinematography captured the awe-inspiring, apocalyptic New York best. The storyline was not half bad, but it could be much better. Will Smith's performance was good, and I could feel my self in his position since being the last person is my fear. |

I saw this last week whilst in the US, but failed to write any sort of review on it til now. First off, let me say that I have never been so terrified in my entire life. I had no idea it was going to be so frightening! I'm okay with gore, blood, etc. but all this jumping out of nowhere and noises in the dark was absolutely insane. Seriously, if you can imagine me hiding out under a blanket then you've got me spot on. Will Smith was fantastic, the plot was okay [a bit too many frights I think!], and the ending strayed from the book, but overall it was certainly well done. Anyone who can stand mannequins, apocolyptic scenarios, and rabified humans will like this movie. |

Oh, this thread is kind of old, but I still feel like commenting. (!) So, I went and saw it a few days ago, and I thought it was really good. I agree with Larael, there was definitely a lot of the "jumping out of dark corners" thing. Nothing really creeped me out, but it did make me really sad. I was so dissapointed in what they did to his poor dog. It was so sweet watching the relationship between the two. (I'm strange, aren't I?) I thought the movie was pretty good overall. They could have done a couple of things differently (like the ending!), but I figured that was going to happen anyways. I would recommend it, but watch it with someone else. (It's much more fun, and a bit easier when things jump out and start screaming!) |

Larael...I totally understand. I went to see this movie with a bunch of friends and I spend a good portion of it buried into my chair, my best friend and I hiding under a jacket until the scary parts were over. ![]() But I expected that. That's just how I am with suspenseful movies. I actually really enjoyed it. It was a well-made movie, with a sufficiently creepy plot, though I believe the movie pales in comparison to I, Robot and its philosophic thought. Oh, and I cried with the dog part. I could not stand to see Sam hurt. She just meant so much to Neville--his last, only link to life. Dogs just make everything better. Even in a depressing, sad world like his, it is impossible not to be filled with joy when you look at Sam's smiling face when she's taking a bath and bubbles are all around her head. ![]() |
