Post subject:  A question about AWE ( spoilers )
Well, recently i watched it, and im deeply confused because...

Well Wills the captain of the dutchmen, and that means Elizabeth cant see him, but why ?? Becket and his soldiers managed to get on the ship, so did the pirates, including Will, Elizabeth, and Jack. So why should it be any different afterwards ??

Will has to do his duty as Captain of the Dutchman, by ferrying the souls of those who died at sea to the place they should be.

When everyone was on the Dutchman, Beckett etc, the Dutchman was not being used for this duty. Davy Jones was using it for his own means.

But when Will became Captain, he was going to properly attend the dead souls, and where he would need to go to collect them and then ferry them, Elizabeth couldn't go, as she was not part of the crew or part of the duty.

That's pretty much it I think.

It's probably not as detailed, I dare say, as some people could go into, but if you understand the bare details, I don't think it will matter leaving out all the heavy stuff. ;)

Not to uh...dispute you JF, because that sounds reasonable enough for me....but why couldn't Lizzy just stay on the ship as part of the crew? Davy Jones made many people part of the crew, and as long as Will was doing the job, with Lizzy in the crew....couldn't that work? I mean she's already been to the other world...so it's not like she wouldn't make it or anything. :huh:

Well I'm not saying what I said is set in stone or anything, it's just what I believe to be and also what I have heard.

I think Bootstrap said something like "where we're going she can't go" because although Elizabeth has been to World's End, I'm not entirely sure that's where the Dutchman needs to go to collect the souls of the dead. They only went there to get Jack back from the Locker, but I'm presuming that no mortal can go to where the dead souls are kept.

Hmm... could question.... but we saw how Jones got some of his crew didn't we? 100 years of servitude in exchange for putting off death. Elizabeth wasn't in danger of dying, so Will couldn't have struck that bargain with her could he?

Personally, I think it's one of many gaps in POTC that the writers can fill in with what they like and make it sort of fit.

A got a Pirates book yesterday, supposedly written by Gibbs and to be made a King of the Pirates you need to have done three things: swore by the code, be captain of a ship and killed a man..... and apparently Elizabeth fits all those. :orly: That seems a bit ... iffy to me.

@ EA - I haven't read it all yet, it's quite good though.

This is a bit random; but I have a theory (aka an idea needing to be turned into a fanfic) that Lizzie will find the Fountain of Youth before any of them, drink from it, become immortal... and then they can just be like the immortal couple or something.

Now that I put that in type - it sounds really, really dumb. Erg. Things always look more brilliant in my head.

That would make a good fanfic story actually. But seen as how KK has said she will never make another POTC film, I can't see it being canon as it were. :-)

[which is probably a good thing as I want a Jack & Babby road movie!]
