I debated about wether or not to post this. But I just felt I had too. On this past Sunday, the world lost one of it's true creative genius'. Special effects and makeup guru Stan Winston passed away on Sunday, June 15th in Los Angeles, California. He was 62. Winston died at home Sunday evening after a seven-year struggle with multiple myeloma. Winston was best known for his work for the "Terminator," "Jurassic Park" and "Predator" series, and Edward Scissorhands. The 3-time Oscar winner most recently worked on Iron Man and was special effects supervisor on the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Winston won Oscars for Aliens (1986), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1992) and Jurassic Park (1993). http://www.superherohype.com/news/ironm ... hp?id=7360 This has truly rocked me. I've been a long, long time fan of his work via Terminator, Predator and the Alien movies. I had no idea he was even sick. I'm absolutely gutted. Sympathies go out to his family and friends. RIP Stan...you really were a true legend and a genius. You wil truly be missed. For anyone interested in his work...his imdb profile http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0935644/ |

Ah, I was sad to hear about his death as well. He name was familar to me, and I knew he'd worked on a lot of films I had seen, and it was such a shame to hear of such a talented person, with so many years experience and a continuing career ahead of him, had died quite young. The film industry has lost another pioneer. |

He did so much for the movie industry. He was so incredibly talented. He's worked on practically everything. Judging by all the different jobs he's had on films, he could almost be his own film crew. It's truly a loss for the film community. ![]() |

I truly hope McG puts some sort of In Memoriam in the credits or end credits of Terminator Salvation. I'm still quite overcome with it all. One minute I'm reading about his work on T4, the next about his passing. ![]() |
