I've never been huge on Trekkie-ness but I'm so in for Eric Bana and Jennifer Morrison.

I've never been a Trekkie. Just never got into it, and I've always been a Star Wars fan foremost. The movie looks good though, and like a person like myself could follow it without too much trouble. Plus Eric Bana is totally amazing and Chris Pine is quite adorable, so I'll probably go see it.

Well I'M a freaking Trekkie. XD I grew up on NG and DS9.
I saw the trailer for this a few weeks ago and I nearly lost it. Talk about geekgasm times 50.
Simon Pegg is in it??! Now THAT I didn't know. *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
*flails around and passes out from excitement*
*twitch*

I thought this thread would get ignored xD
I'm a Trekkie/Trekker (take your pick) and very proud of it. I was raised on TOS by my mum and older brother and love all the series so far and most of the movies.
MB: The second trailer has only been out about a week if you include it being tagged on to some showings of Quantum of Solace. The teaser trailer only had footage of the Enterprise being built and Leonard Nimoy's sultry voice over. But....how could you not know Peggster was in this?? Shame on you
I marked hard for his part in the second trailer. "This is exciting!" He nailed the accent...I won't have to abuse him for butchering it now
Zachary looks and sounds so awesome.
I've warmed up completely to Chris Pine. I wasn't too sure with some of the promo shots. But the clip of him gazing up at the Enterprise in dry dock was just beautiful and he really did look like a young Shatner to me.
Karl Urban....oh Gaaaawds his clip made me ROFL. It was completely McCoy. He even had the archetypcal crazed look and arched eyebrows during his rant. Which was gold... "Space is disease and danger wrapped up in darkness and silence"
*cough* Yeah....I liked it.

thank you for posting what Urban said in the trailer; I was sure it was funny but I couldn't understand it amidst all the explosions.
the 2nd trailer was so awesome! I cannot wait to see it, but I desperately hope the-hinted-at sex scenes are left out. I won't see it in theaters with my dad if they're in it, which figures for this day and age...one thing that ruined Nemesis for me was that whole bedroom scene with Troi and riker. blech. anyway, I think the cast is awesome and i look for them to deliver on expectations...

XD you're welcome.
I watched it over and over and over till I got it. It's a great line, Karl's delivery is spot on and very 'Bones'.
I can't see them leaving much of it out of those bedroom scenes, if only just to emphasise Kirk's reputation for being a ladies man. I can't see them being that graphic though. To miss out on a movie because of a scene that is probably less than 5 minutes of the movie seems silly to me.
Anyhoooo..this was posted up on AICN a few days ago so I figured I'll post it here too. It's the trailer with a nice little added scene at the end. The geeky fangirl in me squeeeeeeeeeeee'd till I almost passed out.

^well, some people may not but my beliefs and the way I view movies makes me look at those scenes whether or not they're 5 minutes long or an hour long. I saw madagascar for the first time today, and while it was funny, it's nota movie I want to own. It was a bit too crude and had some homosexual quips that I found uncomfortable. if I can't be comfortable seeing a film, I dont' see it more than once or twice.
anyway, it'll all depend on what my parents say and what the review says *I only go by one site's reviews since they're coming from a Christian POV.* I still think the movie will be good; just those scenes will ruin it for me, especially since I saw no romantic connection between Kirk and Uhura in TOS. *except for that interracial kiss...haven't seen that episode but as far as I know, that was the extent of their relationship*

Seeing as it's a belief based reason, I'll say no more lest I offend you.
I am pretty sure the girl with Kirk isn't Uhura. It's just the quickfire editing that gives that appearance.

wouldn't surprise me if it was. I mean the little bit with her just about stripping...kind of gives me that impression but no telling.
My brother-in-law isn't sure if he'll like it because he's afraid they have made the same mistake as Enterprise; making the past look too futuristic. I agree; but unless every trekkie boycotts the film I doubt it'll be a big deal.

The new bridge looks good. Because it's a reboot of the series, I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. I'm completely sold on the new Enterprise as well...she's just beautiful.

*grin* I love the original series. It makes me laugh to see the sixties-ness. And yeah, I grew up on NG because my dad was a Trekkie. I like how it's never been really super advanced. Somehow lower-quality graphics leave more to the imagination.
I've never seen any of the movies, but I have to admit, the idea of new actors playing the characters is a wee bit hard to take. McCoy is my...favorite. *turns pink*

Because it's a reboot, the new cast really doesn't bother me. That and the fact that they cast very very well, imo at least lol.
Granted I only have promo shots and a 2 and a half minute trailer to go on, but I really think this is going to honour the original series as much as it will have to be a movie in it's own right.

I'm looking forward to the movie. I think the new cast looks pretty good, personally- I can't belive how they nailed Spock with Zachary Quinto. And I'm excited to see Bones, of course! My favorite original series character+Karl Urban= Win in my eyes!

Yesh!
From what I've read Zachary really wanted the role and went out of his way to get it. I'm glad as it's one of the harder characters to recast, but he fits the role so perfectly.
Karl is out of this world in the clip from the trailer. I imagine in in front of a mirror practicing the raised eyebrow and crazy look

Yeah, I have to say...just looking at normal Karl Urban I can really see him doing McCoy.
