It's the new movie from Henry Selick, director of <i>Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas</i>.
Internet Movie Database wrote: Adapted from the Hugo Award-winning, internationally best-selling novel, Coraline is a spine-tingling tale about a curious girl who unlocks a mysterious door in her family's new home and enters into an adventure in a parallel reality. On the surface, this "Other World" eerily mimics her own life - though it is much more fantastical. In it, Coraline encounters different versions of her own life, including off-kilter neighbors and an Other Mother who attempts to keep her forever. Ultimately, Coraline must rely on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to get back home.
Anyone else excited about this?

I saw the trailer for this before Twilight... and it looks weird... lol. But then again, I'm not big on these kinds of movies- Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, etc. To each their own, though.

I think it looks interesting- something I'd like to see sometime. I probably won't see it in theaters, but maybe after it comes out on DVD.

weird thing is, I saw a trailer for this on tv right before I came on and saw this thread.  that trailer was the first thing I've heard of/seen about this movie (or the book)... ever. And as you already know, Ara, this kind of animation really creeps me out. So I don't know if I'll see it, but it does look interesting. You'll have to tell me what it's like when you see it, Ara. 
honestly, I have to admit that after I saw the trailer on tv for the second time I started thinking "hey, you know, that movie kinda reminds me of LWW!"  because she finds a new world through a doorway in her own house... sorry, just my obsession showing through.
ahem, either way, it does sound interesting... if it weren't for that animation.  I am such a whimp.

I have to be honest.
I read the book and it was The Creepiest children's book of all time. In fact, it gave me nightmares... the kind where you wake up panting. Normally I am a huuuuuuuge fan of Neil Gaiman (Neverwhere = love) but this was just... I don't know... disturbing somehow. It brought up a lot of unwanted images for me... especially with her "other" parents and all.
Anyway, I want to see the movie, and yet I'm kind of a wimp here too... lol. I mean, I love TNBC, but that was near as freaky as this tale... _________________ <center>

I want to read some Neil Gaiman soon- I've heard good things about his books.
I do think the trailer looks a little creepy, but creepy in a good sort of way. Not nasty creepy or gory creepy, but jumpy creepy. If that makes any sense. And I have liked other stop-motion films that I've seen (all two of them  )

Okay, so I just saw the preview for this movie.... my gosh, that movie looks creepy. Like, I dunno what it is... the animation, the button eyes, the general weirdness of it all...  Maybe I'm just a whimp for these kinds of things, but man that look creepy.

My little brother asked me to take him to see this movie, and I figured "why not?" I love movies in general, and this one didn't look so bad. I have to say that I thought it was really really good! I was very pleasantly surprised. I was also kinda worried that my brother (5 yrs. old) would get scared by it, but he loved it too. I've never read the book, but I thought it was a very good movie.

...Stop-motion gothic-esque movies like this make me happy...for some reason...I can't stand horror movies, but I usually enjoy the 'creepy-but-not-really-that-creepy' kind of movies...if that makes any sense.
Anyways, it looks to be in the same vein as Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, and such. I wanna see it, but I probably won't see it in theatres. My friend said it was good.
I did read a review somewhere that said it was a horror movie for children, though. I have to admit that that's a rather sickening concept. And I've heard that the book it's based off is rather scary. And...gouging your eyes out to have button eyes, if I read correctly? That makes me wince.
But other than that it looks like a really delightful story.
I think my thoughts are being really disjointed tonight..._________________

^Coraline is in 3D... or are you referring to My Bloody Valentine?  A little lost at the moment, sorry.

Yeah, the whole button-eyes thing was really weird, but I didn't mind it so much because they didn't show it. If they had shown something like that, I wouldn't be able to look at the screen. Anything medical that has to do with the eyes freaks me out. Even eyedrops. I can't stand putting anything in/near my eyes.
Anyway, I thought it was good... maybe not enough to see it again, but a cute little movie. I'll probably get it when it comes out on DVD either way.
