I saw no thread for it, why? Sadness. It was a pretty awesome movie, my family went to see it tonight. I haven't read the book yet, but my brother did and was telling me some of the differences. Which were quite amusing. And it never fails, my favorites are always the bad guys or end up dead.

So, anyone else looking forward to this/saw this?

Let me start by saying Angels and Demons is in my top five favorite books of all times. It is simply amazing and I don't want to get into all the details right now, but I just wanted to start off by saying that I have huge expectations for this movie since the book is so amazing.

After the fiasco of Da Vinci Code I am a bit weary since the movie was an epic fail compared to the book. Don't get me wrong the movie was good, but held none of the magic of the book.

I can only hope that A&D is better than DVC and follows the book more closely.

I have yet to see it, but I hope to see it asap!

I actually thought it was better than the book, contrary to a lot of the reviews I've been reading. All the ingenious puzzles were there, but the ending was less far-fetched. (Spoilers) Especially not having Langdon go up in the helicopter with the camerlengo. Maybe it's technically possible to survive jumping from a helicopter without a proper parachute but it still seemed a little absurd to me. Besides, I liked the quiet little moment he got praying as he went up.

The soundtrack was great too, and visually it was fantastic! (The end was just :o)

I did see the movie... like a month after I read the book and I was actually disappointed in both. The book was alright but had flaws (like the scene Taurquende pointed out) but the movie also had its flaws. With the book I was disappointed with the unbelievable stunts Dan Brown had Langdon doing but I was hoping they would look more realistic in the movie, after all they can do anything on TV!! And with the movie I was disappointed in how many characters they'd cut out and what a minor part Vittoria came to play.

Well, I have to confess I'm not a fan of Tom Hanks and this is his movie. I love Ewan McGregor, but I don't think he played up to his best (btw, I posted in the Ewan McGregor thread in the Misc. Actors section a while ago about his part as the camerlengo *hinthint*).

I was really excited about this movie and I really wanted to like it and perhaps I crushed it with my own expectations...

I must say I liked DVC more.

I haven't read the series. I do own the Da Vinci Code and should read that...

I'd be willing to see Angels and Demons though just for Pierfrancesco Favino. <3

SPOILERS AHEAD

It was a very good movie. Despite the changes (which I disliked), the movie flowed very well, and I never felt it dragging, which was nice.

Olivetti was amazing in the movie. He was a character I loved to hate in the book, but in the movie he was just fabulous. As always I was awesomified by Tom Hanks, one of my favorite actors of all time ever. The female actor was forgettable, and Stellan was amazing. I never took Ewan seriously as a Vatican priest and I hated the fact that he was changed from Italian to Scottish or whatever he ended up being.

As for compared to the book, the book was far better. Compared to the Da Vinci Code movie, this movie was better. It was probably the action scenes, and the more intense feeling that time was going to run out for the Vatican, whereas the DVC felt a little laggy, due to the amount of information loaded onto the audience in order for them to understand what was going on and why.

As for the changes, they did make the movie work well as a movie. Perhaps my most detested changes was the nationality of the Camerlengo and the fact that he never found out that the Pope was actually his father. That added a lot to the book and gave him a reason to kill himself, instead of a bunch of angry cardinals and the fact that the Swiss Guard were walking menacingly towards him.

All in all, I extremely enjoyed the movie, plus the soundtrack is amazing. And the gorgeous Lancia Delta 1.8 Turbo Jet was stunning.
