My dad and I saw this movie last night, and it was amazing! A bit scary/freaky/creepy at points (Marley's jaw, anyone?), but the music and effects were simply awesome. Robert Zemeckis is an amazing director, and I had to remind myself that it was animation and not real life.

Anyone else's thoughts? Likes, dislikes?

^ Well it's nice to know they were keeping parts of the story in that most adaptations leave out i.e the jaw dropping bit. Did the hearse appear in Scrooge's house at all?

It does look very good, so I'm looking forward to renting it.

The hearse carrying Scrooge's future dead self did appear, but it chased him, which I found a little odd...the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come was the one driving it, and it was a little reminiscent of the Black Rider in FotR chasing the Hobbits. *and no, the hearse didn't make an appearance in his house; Scrooge tumbled out into the street where those two men who tried to get him to donate to their cause worked...I've never read the novel, so I have no idea what it's called.*

Grrr, you know, on Christmas day my family wanted to go see this movie but the theater only had one normal showing of it and that was early in the morning... the rest were in IMAX (which my eyes, stomach and ears cannot handle). But I really want to see it... it's looks brilliant! *dies* now I'll probably have to wait til it comes out on DVD around Christmastime next year. :confuzzled:

My dad can't handle IMAX either, but he still wants to see it in IMAX...and I'm guessing it's also in 3D.

I really enjoyed this movie. They did a good job of staying true to the story while keeping it entertaining enough for the kids going to see it.

And of course visually, it was fantastic.

Two thumbs up to the director and Jim Carrey :)

Oh yes. I read the book the week before I saw it in IMAX, and was really amazed by how close they kept to the book. I also thought that ACC the book was a lot longer; just five chapters! haha. I really enjoyed the book though, and I will definitely appreciate my dad's favorite version, the one with George C. Scott (though I believe he's close to liking this version more).

My parents took me to see it in IMAX, and it was simply amazing. Experience that movie in IMAX, and you'll probably jump a lot more at all the scary parts (I did, even though I knew what was coming). My mom, whom I assumed wouldn't like it (this was her first time to see it) really enjoyed it. My dad, of all people, loves the soundtrack/score, and I ended up buying the cd from iTunes and making him a copy. He especially likes God Bless Us Everyone by Andrea Bocielli (sp?).

I don't know if I'd take kids under the age of 10 to see it, as it was intense for me (an 18 year old who doesn't like scary films), but I think kids would enjoy it...just depends on if you think they can handle it or not. I wouldn't take mine to see it if I had any kids, mainly because if I'm scared by it, they probably would be too.

I also liked how they slipped in little references and nods to the novel; most of them are fairly obvious, but still.
