Post subject:  Robin Hood - again!
So I saw the trailer for this new Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett as maid Marion... umm... it looked pretty traditional so I was wondering if we should expect wonders of it or it's all seen before. Ridley Scott is the director, so that's interesting but other than that.... expectations???

I mean Robin Hood for me will always be Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with a bad, all too American Kevin Costner and Lady Marion with the craziest 80's hairdo - and of course the immaculate Alan Rickman as the Sherif of Nottingham. :P

I've saw quite a few trailers for this and I gotta say it looks pretty epic. Great cast, amazing director and it looks like a decent telling of the story.

Actually, this looks to be a very interesting take on the story. It seems we'll be getting a lot more of Robin in the Crusades as opposed to him back in Sherwood. So we'll get to see what made him Robin Hood. I'm really excited. :D

You're never going to get a true traditional Robin Hood nowadays, although there are levels to which you should take the non-traditional aspect of it.

As long as it's more traditional than the BBC TV series, then it should be pretty good. Ridley Scott did do Gladiator afterall, so I am hopeful it will be believable.

So Nurr, is it going to be more like a story of Robin ehh... before Hood? You know his younger years and the story of what might have happened before he returned to England?
I'd like to see that. :P

Premise
It is late 12th century England and Sir Robin of Loxley, Earl of Huntington, (Russell Crowe) has returned to his northern English village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen). Sir Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his home village from tyranny and corruption in England, by taking back what is rightfully his, and by taking back what rightfully is theirs, to restore justice and happiness to England. Robin must also win the affection of the recently widowed Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett) while leading his Merry Men of Sherwood Forest to victory and fairness.


Sounds pretty traditional Robin Hood-stuff! ;)

Oh! This sounds absolutely brilliant! I already loved the story of Robin Hood, just like the movie Robin Hood: Prince of the Thieves. But this new movie shall be interesting, only because this awesome combination of actors is working on it.

First and foremost, Russell Crowe (Maximus), who's like one of my favourite actors, Cate Blanchett (Galadriel) who's a fabulous actress, Matthew MacFayden (Mr Darcy) and Mark Strong (Lord Blackwood).

Who would have thought that the lovely sweetheart, Mr Darcy would play the villain?

I can't wait to see this movie! :-D

I just got back from seeing this, and loved it. It's definitely about Robin before he becomes "Robin Hood", but it's done in such a great way. The music was epic, the cast was fantastic, and the story was just amazing and unique.

If you're going to see it for Matthew MacFayden, though...don't go to an expensive theater. He wasn't a major player.

I saw it. It was epicness. :D The battle sequence and flashbacks were very well done. (can you tell I go to movies for the cinematography content? :))

Haha, no worries there. I do the same thing. The shots of the army leaving the hills were pretty fantastic, the way they panned them all.

Mmmm.... and the arrow with water shots were really awesome. We actually considered trying to film that years ago, but decided it was too hard... glad to see someone could do it.

I saw and enjoyed it immensely. The story itself is a prequel, which made it more interesting in my opinion, although I know there are some people who were disappointed with that aspect. Cate Blanchett and Russell Crowe played very well off of one another. I especially enjoyed Cate's kicka•• version of Lady Marion. My only complaint was the length of the movie itself. I'm fairly certain they could have cut out the first thirty to forty-five minutes and it would have been just as wonderful if not more so. :)

Seen it last week - I absolutely loved it. The music was also incredible.
