Post subject:  (Free) streaming and download

I usually check out YouTube if I need to watch a movie in really bad quality! :teehee:
Umm.. I'm not a criminal and I don't go watching movies online on purpose instead of buying but sometimes I might want to kill time or check out something before purchasing - and I'm sure I'm not the only one. :-)

So I thought we could share our links here, links to specific TV-shows and general sites with (preferably free) movies for streaming or downloading. And also if there is anything we should know.. like if the links only work in certain countries or if you need to sign up or umm... the site is virus-infested and wants to suck all life out of your harddisk! (Although, in that case you might think twice before you share it! :P)
So yeah, we only want SAFE sites.

I've only just tried it out because I was looking for a particular movie (thanks to Aerlinn for posting the link). The quality seems to be good and it looks like there are new movies there too. It's a free site with no sign up and you can stream or download.

Good Idea!!

Project free Tv
It has a massive variety of films and TV and most are fairly easy to find. Its also really useful as it tells you the stream speed so you don't have to wait for annoying japanese hosted sites like Youku and you can avoid youtube, which I find really annoying if there isn't a playlist for the film.

Watch Movies Online
Lots of films and has a rating system and comments which generally hint at whether the link works and what the load speed is

Watch Heroes Online
Heroes only, but its a lifesaver for us brits who have to wait months to see latest heroes episodes

Heroes online streaming
Heroes only again, Lifesaver for losers like me again, but has alternative hosts like megavideo et al

Are these to download or watch online?

I know sometime this year in the UK I think, people who are chronic illegal downloaders will have their internet cut-off, so is this all legit do you know?

I'm not sure about the site I posted - probably not the most legal of legal... I might have a double standard but I don't mean to take the bread out of any big corporation's mouth. :-) I would never download music illegally because I think the artists deserve their pay for their hard work - and you might say the same about the movie producers, but well... see here is where my double standard come in...

But I'm open for arguments against this. I might learn something new. :-)

I thought it was not illegal to watch (and stream ) movies or tv-shows, but it is illegal to keep those sites..

But I'm not sure.. It might depend on how strict regulations are in your country. I believe that e.g. in Germany you're not even allowed to watch music clips on youtube..

Yeah, I think they are cracking down on people who illegally manage to show new films on the internet, and then the people who instead of shelling out some money, watch it online. And the people who illegally download films from questionable sources or just individuals who happen to have a copy.

It's all very confusing really, but I don't mind watching stuff online (as long as it's not something obviously obtained illegally) but I just won't download it. :-)

It will be really funny though when these people who never buy a song or a film legally, turn on their internet one day and it won't work. :P

I'm with you all it's a jungle and very confusing. I might be naïve, very naïve but I don't feel like a criminal when I stream movies or music online. But of course, I'm sure a lot of it is there illegally. But it's like buying a pair of shoes in some obscure market place and you have this feeling it's not right because there is no way the shoes can be the real stuff but on the other way you don't feel like a criminal and you're not hurting anyone - so you happily wear the shoes! (All the places I put "you" you might replace with "I" in the example above. :P)
However, I wouldn't download (unless the artist had specifically given it free on a website) because somehow it feels like stealing - and also because I have this idea that my computer might easier catch a virus with downloading than streaming - which is probably wrong too.

It's like my mind works in an irrational/illogical way - very emotional. I go with a curious mix of what feels right or wrong and what is convenient to me without actually having a clue whether or not it's true. So to me it feels wrong to download but it's very convenient to watch movies online... :innocent:
Like you said, there are different laws in each country which doesn't make it easier to figure out. However, I'm pretty sure you can't cut off someone's internet without warning since you pay for the internet service at the provider. I think if they really wanted to crack down on people they would show up at your house to arrest you and take away your hard drive as evidence. :-)

[PS Gimli. I love the Lighting of the Beacons banner - but your banners change too fast to enjoy it. :-(]

I think if the police crime unit involved in illegal activities want to prevent your computer from every opening Firefox again - they can pretty much do it. :P

But you're right. I don't feel bad about watching anything on Youtube - they know it's there so if someone doesn't like it, it can be removed. It's just other stuff I would never do. But I wish they would start cracking down on these people because it is seriously affecting the film industry. Especially those who distribute pirated films for profit.

I too, have this feeling that everything to download out there will attack my computer, which is why I tend not to do it dull stop.

Thank you. Dang! I spent ages trying to get the right speed as well.

Just for you. :D
