Gone With the Wind ....... I know it's supposed to be a classic, but why it is completely mystifys me. The acting is so hammy as to be all but unwatchable, and I despise the main character.

Movies I've seen but cannot see again... well... there are a lot of movies that I see once and don't care to see again. The Hobbit trilogy comes to mind, but I might watch parts of it should I randomly tune across it on free tv and there wasn't Futurama or MASH reruns on another station. Hmm.... I don't know. I tend to forget about the crap movies and enjoy the ones I would watch again.
And I get the Gone With The Wind thing you are talking about. Saw it once, and maybe even watched parts of it again at some point, but never got into it. It simply didn't age well. I'm thinking the mass appeal when it was released was because of the widescreen technicolor cinematography and special effects. Cool for the day, but not enduring. Now Casablanca from the same era, I can watch over and over!

Yeah, you might be right. It may just be the special effects and all that with gone with the wind. I never really understood why people loved it so much.
The hobbit was defenitely not what I was expecting but O didn't dislike it that much.

It was so bad I feel a sense of shame for having paid to see it at the cinema. Seriously, what have I ever done wrong to those directors to be slapped in the face with the ridiculousness that was... well, whatever that mess was supposed to be. I don't even know, it feels like someone was filming the audience and it was a prank of some kind. One guy summed up all of our feelings when the movie faded to black and was over:
"WHAT?!"
Yeah, kid, that's what we were all thinking.

I stand by my observations above and said as much. The guy I was conversing with couldn't believe I didn't like Gone With The Wind.

Well, ... I believe the last movie I saw in a cinema was RoTK in early 2004. And when I think of it, I have not been in cinemas very often in my life. What I now have as DVD movies I chose for a reason (or so I believe).
Hmmmmm ... I have occasionally bought DVDs of Movie series because the previous ones were OK, the first one really good. Ice Age 4 had several really weak moments, Ice Age 1 is one of the best CGI movies of all time. Shrek 1 is right alongside it, the Shrek Series didn't deteriorate quite as badly. Actually, when I come to think of it, Ice Age 4 is the real dog, especially since it crashes down story-wise so badly compared the the previous three, especially the first movie.

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea!!!!!!!!!!!!It was the very first movie I saw in a theater. Although it had premiered a few years before, they brought it back for a while. I was probably all of 7. We were late after taking too much time to choose a candy, a rare event in my poor family. I chose Starbursts, or something like that. Really sickeningly sweet. Because we were late, the only seats were in the FRONT ROW!!! If you've not seen the movie, it's mostly in a really cool submarine, but always underwater it seemed. URF! Suffice it to say that eating sickeningly sweet candies while watching an underwater movie in the front row just doesn't work... Gandolorin wrote: And when I think of it, I have not been in cinemas very often in my life. I haven't either. I was probably scarred from that first movie. I do go to those that need a big screen like Star Wars (4, 5 and 6) and Star Trek (although I loved Next Gen and DS 9 on TV much more... "Make it so!" ) and LotR. I won't watch either of the two Hobbit movies again and have not watched the third one.
