Exactly. He fulfilled his destiny as "The Chosen One" by killing the emperor and destroying the sith

I like it very much. It makes sense too, since when they first made Return of the Jedi with the old Anakin they had no idea what Anakin was going to look like in the prequels (if they ever were to be made).

And the reason Anakin comes as a spirit is this:

In Revenge of the Sith, there is a small reference to Qui Gon communicating from the spirit world. Unfortunately, the scene where he actually speaks with Yoda was deleted, but in that scene Qui Gon tells Yoda that the secret to eternal life is through compassion(and this is the power the Sith have been seeking;Palpatine lies to Anakin when he tells him he can achieve immortal life (or cheating death)). The Jedi who have the ability to love and show true compassion and attachment are the ones who can visit the living as spirits. Qui Gon was one of the first to achieve this, followed by Obi Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and then of course Anakin Skywalker.

However, as to why Qui Gon could not reappear is because he could not retain his physical self, so he is basically just a voice, if that makes sense.

I hope that helps :).

what do you mean by the "new ending"???

Author:  Haellinion [ August 10th, 2005, 11:59 pm ]
Post subject:

the new ending as in having Hayden Christensen appearing in spirit form rather than the original actor (Sebastian Shaw).

You know, I'm SO glad you cleared that up about Qui Gon . . . I was a little confused. But yeah, the other day I watched Return of the Jedi for the first time in what seemed like YEARS (maybe because it HAS been years . . .) and at the end, Hayden just kind of "appeared." And TOTALLY freaked me out, because I couldn't remember who the original Anakin was. I had to watch the end a couple times to actually see that it WAS Hayden . . . and not my mind playing tricks. So, thanks for clearing that up . . . so I know I'm not COMPLETELY insane. ;) Ha ha ha! How do you know so much about Star Wars anyways? Wait, I shouldn't ask . . . I already know the answer. Anyways . . . at least I'm not crazy!

oh you people i also i am in love with anakin(and of course hayden christensen  )Well yes we find out in ROTS that anakin did not just turned to vader but his initial motivation was his love for padme and his desire to keep her in life...isn't this tragic and sooooo romantic simultaneously?well afterwards he became obsessed with power and that led to...well we all know!

I have a question for you btw!if any1 sees this post"who do you think the chosen one was?"well i really think it's anakin because of the end in ROTJ,and his immaculate conception. Some say though that it was his son Luke...that makes sense too...so some1 help me?

I really think it could be taken either way. Anakin killed Palpatine and therefor destroyed that generation of Sith and allowed the New Republic to be established. But Luke is the reason for Anakin killing Palpatine and after the movies (in the books, and I'm not sure if this is what your looking for) he helps maintain balance in the Force.

Another way to look at it is this: In the end of the 'Revenge of the Sith' novelization (or one of the movie novelizations) they say that the light side and the dark side must always be in ballance. All the prophecy says about the 'Chosen One' is that he will return balance to the Force, not defeat the Sith. So, because the Jedi have cast so much light as a result of defeating the Sith all those times and maintianing peace and stability in the Old Republic, the dark side (aka: the Sith) had to rule to return balance to the Force. If you believe that, then Anakin is the 'Chosen One' because he was the reason for the rise of the First Galatic Empire (Sith Empire).
