I don't know if anyone has ever read any of the Horrible Histories book series but I grew up with Terry Deary's history books, and still buy any new ones he writes. A few years ago they did an animated TV series based on the books, and two years ago they created a live action series with songs and various sketches, all to make history interesting for children. However, it has gained a very big adult audience in the UK (hence the fact they are moving the show to primetime and adding Stephen Fry - a big no, no in my opinion but we'll see).

The best thing about the show is the songs and the way they parody different types of music from rock, boy bands and rap. The actors are all really superb in this, and after a while, it's fun to pick out who plays who. (The Stupid Deaths guy is my hero on this)

If anyone has a few minutes to spare each day, try out some of these clips and see what you think. Hopeully they will make you laugh, or at least smile. :-)

I think the vikings and the Tudors were two of my favorites, but really they were all pretty brilliant.

The thing about them is, once you hear them you can't get the song out of your head. :teehee:

Oh my I love horrible histories so much!!!! I haven't watched it in ages (as I've had to study PROPER non-fun university History D:) but I love those songs.... LITERALLY!!

I love Matt Baynton and the Stupid Death's guy. Isn't there a series 3 coming out soon too?

This is my favourite sketch just for the line "Ugly Bugly"

Yay another fan!!

Yep series 3 has just started now (check out the BBCiplayer, they're still showing them) and so far it is GREAT!! You can tell they have more money to spend on costumes and locations and the songs are even better.

This is probably my favourite one they've ever done - SEXY VILLAIN ALERT!!!!

Hehehe I saw the first episode yesterday, it's so fab, and it just seems to be getting better and better, because they're now getting onto historical things that most people don't know about, which makes it more educational.

I love Matt Baynton! He makes such a good Dick Turpin

Ooooh and apparently they're gonna make an adult HH, which is gonna be the same sketches and cast, but minus the rat!
