Surely I can't be the only Skins fan on A-U! I found the series about a year ago when I came down with a nasty cold right after spring break started and spent most of that week curled up on the couch watching the first two seasons. So, maybe my sickness-induced mindset deluded me into thinking that this was great television, but I don't think that's completely the case Personally, I couldn't stand the US version, and I laugh when people talk about scandalous it is (well, for cable tv in America, I guess it is, but it has NOTHING on the UK version ). But if anyone's been watching the US version, whether you watched because you'd already seen the UK version or are new to the Skins universe, I'm curious what you think... And, if you're a UK fan, which generation has been your favorite so far? I'm going to be boring and vote the original generation all the way, but that's probably not fair to the third gen., since they've only had one season to develop as of yet...

You're not alone Im a skins fan. Though i havent been keeping up with the current season as I didnt really warm to the 3rd generation. What do you think of it so far? My favourite group would have to be the first generation as well. Though i also really liked the second one with cook and freddie. Anyone out there a fan of Misfits?

Yaaaaay, one other Skins fan! I was beginning to think there was no hope I still don't really know what I think of the 3rd generation, despite having watched this entire season. I was insanely disappointed at the very beginning, because it looked like Mean Girls goes to Britain, and cliqueish exclusion was never the point of Skins. However, it did get past that...except by that point, I still had a hard time believing that these characters who hated each others' guts at the beginning of the season were best buds by now. Plus I really want explanations behind some of the characters such as Mattie. Shrug. We'll get more development in the next season, I suppose. I did warm to the second generation by the time season 4 had started, but I HATED them at the beginning. I rewatched the first generation-2 episode recently and cringed the whole way through >.< I still kind of hate Cook, and I never found the love....square? with Effy, Freddie, Cook, and JJ that believable. Katie, Emily, Naomi, and Thomas were quite fascinating, though No one can compare to Cassie from the original generation, imho. Nevah!

I didn't get it... I watched the first episode (UK version), and didn't understand... Like, I got it, but I didn't understand the appeal. Do I have to watch more episodes to start liking it?

Darkeh, watch the second episode, the one with Cassie. The first episode was a little too much typical-teen-drama blah-ish-ness, and the whole subplot with the drug dealer was pretty ridiculous Skins definitely had some lame episodes mixed in with the awesome ones, I fully admit. Ellie, how much did you watch before you passed your judgment? Also, I thought you were on hiatus

Well, you did say that you were leaving and might come back in one or two years... Glad to have you back, just slightly baffled. I suppose some of the appeal of Skins UK to me is the foreign culture, so I can understand not finding it nearly as interesting when it's your home culture and it's rammed down your throat. That's part of the problem with Skins US, although the copied stories, terrible dialogue, undeveloped characters, and horrible acting all pose problems, too...

I'll try... I didn't like the druggie girl though... She just bothered me. Like Luna bothered me, can't stand airy-headed waffle brains... I love Canadian television! I embrace every stereotype that gets used on me, since I'm from the Great White North. Polar bears, dog sleds, igloos, maple syrup, hockey, "aboot", etc. etc. etc. But that's me getting off topic.

I know this is rotten of me, but I just heard that the US version of Skins got canceled...and this makes me really happy Thought I'd share, for anyone else who thought the American adaptation was terrible!
