Whee...I saw that movie on the weekend, and immediately loved it. ^_^ Maybe I just have a weakness for movies when all the people have English accents, but I loved the whole thing. Has anyone else seen it? Isn't it great? |

I've seen it! I liked it, but I found Alan Rickman as Colonel Branden to be a bit of a miscasting, just because he didn't fit my mental image, and Emma Thompson was a little old to be Elinor. But otherwise, very cool movie! Willoughby is rather handsome, even if he's a complete jerk ![]() |

The first time I saw it (because I saw part of it before the whole thing), I couldn't get the image of him as Snape out of my head..."Marianne and Snape?? Eww!" But the second time around, it wasn't as bad...I liked him a lot at the end, as a character. The only annoying thing about watching the movie is that I was watching it with both my parents. My mom loves the movie and the whole period in general, and she's a lot like me in the way we watch movies--watch quietly and stay entranced, making comments and laughing just a little. I don't mind watching movies with my dad, but it's a bit different--he's more likely to comment on the acting or the special effects or the costumes or whatever, when I like to just forget about that and sink into the story. So I couldn't just sit there and laugh and cry as I might alone...ah well, still great movie. ^^ |

The movie was great, I've watched it two times so far. I just thought some of the actors to old for their roles. I mean, Elinor is supposed to be 19, and Col. Brandon 35, not near 45. Other than that, I really enjoyed it, the atmosphere was great. |

Yay for Sense and Sensibility! God, I was practically raised on these kind of movies! Yay for Willoughby! He's beautiful....but Alan Rickman's character is cool! And then there's Hugh Laurie's tiny character...hee hee hee. And Hugh Grant, who could forget him, eh? ![]() |

Hehe, I know the Pride and Prejudice fans will say "how could you?!" but I actually prefer Sense and Sensibility. I love how much more realistic the characters seem (to me at least), and the story is sweet and simple. This movie's great, too. It's well-cast, and the first place I learned to appreciate Alan Rickman as an actor. |

I know you might not like this post, but I'll go easy on this one....Ha ha! My Mom wanted to rent Sense and Sensibility...so..of course you know, we all sat down to watch it. I'm sorry, but it's not bad movie as in see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil..y'know? But, I got bored. Ha ha! So bored that half way through the movie I was hanging upside down on my couch. Ha ha! But the funniest part of this story is that my Mom ended up falling asleep, and she's the one that wanted to watch it! Dude, I was rollin' with laughter! Just had to tell that story! 8) |

I love Sense and Sensibility (though, Pride and Prejudice will always be my favorite). I haven't read the book, so I can't say much about the casting. True, Emma Thompson was too old for her role, but I think she did a great job just the same. I mean, its Emma Thompson. It took me awhile to get over the Snape-as-Brandon thing, but I think he did a good job as well. And Hugh Laurie was hilarious, as usual! Kate Winslet was perfect for Marianne, and definately beautiful. Hugh Grant flutters his eyelashes too much, but I'm not sure if he can help that ![]() I really need to just read the book. |

I love period dramas/series I'm watching Bleak house at the moment, and Shakespeare retold (they've just done Macbeth)! Sense and Sensibility is great esp. when Colonel Brandon runs across the fields with the fever stricken Marianne Dashwood in his arms- sooo romantic! want to see the new P&P movie! I saw the BBC series with Colin Firth as Mr 'wet shirt' Darcy (if you've seen it you'll get what i mean!) He's amazing with that wonderful sensual smouldering look *swoons* ![]() |

Heheh, the whole time my mom and I were watching it, we kept going "Poor Snape!" every time Marianne ignored him in favor of Willoughby ![]() |

Sense and Sensibility is one of my favorite movies (After Pride and Prejudice and Lord of the Rings). I'm a HUGE Jane Austen fan. I just love her books and was not at all disappointed with this movie. The characters are great and the storyline is interesting. This is one of the best movies I've seen! |

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!! It's the best. I remind myself of Elinor sometimes, but also of Marianne...Marianne reminds me of my cousin...A LOT... |

I know there's a general Jane Austen movie thread around here somewhere.... Anyway, as I can't find it. I just recently saw Sense and Sensibility for the first time, and really liked it. Alan Rickman was brilliant, I love him in it. And I feel so sorry for him! Hugh Grant and Hugh Laurie were both awesome. Marianne...well, she is the person that I love to make fun of. ![]() But, the main reason for my looking up this thread. Deleted scenes. Has anyone else watched them? Edward and Elinor's kiss! Aiee, it was so cute and adorable! He's so nervous. "Um...excuse me.." *kiss* |
