Atonement. It's actually not that good because it's so haunting. I kind of liked it though.

Wake Island.

It was made in 1942 months after the events portrayed and has the usual propaganda slant of wartime American movies, but this one stands out from the others in it's raw screenplay and good acting, and showing the Japanese as human. Sadly, many of the Japanese actors' families were being sent off to internment... prison camps while they were off filming this.

Atonement.
Seriously the ending broke my heart, everything got ruined in a way I couldn't even imagine. I liked the film but the last ten minutes or so, no.

The Magnificent Seven (2016) - I know, I know, I'm obsessed (and proud), but since I'm still not sure about Passengers, I thought that I would opt for this one instead (even though I'm not a fan of a lot of westerns). It also starred Vincent D'Onofrio (Hoskins again?! Aaargh!) Joking aside, this was the first time I saw him play a hero instead of a villain (every movie I've seen him in, he's played a villain; Hoskins in Jurassic World and a big bad alien bug in Men in Black), unfortunately, both Pratt's and D'Onofrio's characters didn't survive (aaargh again! Thank goodness for fan fiction, if you don't like what happens to certain characters, you can always change it. After all, it's your story). :)

I have yet to see the new Magnificent Seven. I'll have to see if I can find it on Netflix or on DVD.

Quentin Tarantino's "True Romance" (1993) on my tower PC with the 26-inch monitor.

And as for any *thingy*seven*thingy* movies, nothing comes even close to Akira Kurosawa's original "Seven Samurai" (1954), which I have watched on DVD with original soundtrack and subtitles. Dubbing just totally fails to transport the original voices ...

That is an awesome movie. I watched it with my daughter back in 2006 and she, already being in love with all things Japanese, thought it was awesome. I agree in the whole subtitle vs dubbing of movies. The whole feeling of the movies change with dubs. I watch the 1993 'Stalingrad' movie with subtitle as it really completes the movie having the German and Russian language in it. Also, a Korean movie about life in the Korean War, Tae Guk Gi was brilliant when subtitled and the language was Korean. I saw it once dubbed, and it was crap. I say always watch movies in their original language and read subtitles!

How did you find Rogue One on a later watching?

I watched Hacksaw Ridge as I found the DVD on sale at the grocery store.

As far as I can remember, the last movie I saw in the cinema was Return of The King, released December 2003, so we probably saw it in January 2004. Nothing since has made us want to see any movie in a cinema, we saw all three Hobbits on DVD on our 42-inch TV, and I saw all three cinema versions, and very much so the three 5-DVD Extended Editions, on my tower PC with the 26-inch monitor (and headphones).
