[1.] Of course JKR didn't copy Tolkien, or else every fantasy writer would be copying Tolkien. Fantasy genre-based writers always take things from eachother, it can't be helped.

[2.] Hmm.. it's really hard to say which I like better. Harry Potter and LotR both take up a lot of space in my mind, followed by Eragon and Narnia. So, I guess it could be equal.
