Per Anders Fogelström's books always take place in Stockholm, Sweden in the past (ranging from the 18th century to the mid 20th century), but his characters are made up. So historical events, the changing times and most importantly the city of Stockholm as it was back then, act as a backdrop to these fictional characters and their stories. Most of the characters tend to be poor, working class people. This book in particular is set in the 1880s-1910s and follows a young woman named Lilly who becomes pregnant without being married. It's excellent so far, and even though I haven't finished it, I would rate it a 9/10. There isn't a specific target age range, but I think young adults and adults would get the most out of it. I would highly, highly recommend his City Series and its prequel the Children Series, where you get to follow the same families and their descendants through all the triumphs, trials and tribulations in a forever changing city and society (spanning the years 1749-1968, including the prequels). Easily 10/10. I have read so many books. I read fan fiction because many of the books I have read are written on such a sophomoric level. I love sci-fi fantasy. Many of them are so cookie-cutter.
I can recommend a book I read in college. The Egyptian by Mika Waltari The book was written in 1945 and the movie was made in 1954. Read the Wiki page on both the book and the movie. You will enjoy your time.
The book, I reread was the Jalna Series or the White Oak Chronicles. It reminds me of a Canadian Gone With the Wind.There is a great house with a strong female character lead. Mazo de la Roche was able to weave a great amount of history into the book. Some of it is quite shocking. I think there are 14 books in the series. Yep, that is what I recommend. In the latter books, the sons become the prominent character. There is something for men and women in this recommendation. I think that the historical information is what will shock today's reader.

I just read a Star Wars fan fic "The Cell" by Obaona. It was awesome, and I recommend it. It is about Obi-Wan and Padmé being held prisoner by Palpatine.

Once Upon a Time: Reawakened.
Honestly, not worth the read. The novelisation focuses entirely on Emma and Snow White. Some of the best plots focus on other characters are just spoon fed by Henry to Emma in a brief summary, and it undoes the TV series' development of the villians.

I'm reading 'Combat Mission' by Joe David Brown. It was originally published as 'Kings Go Forth'. I look forward to a good remake of the good 1958 movie based on this book with a screenplay that reflects the darkness of the book. It had to be lightened up and Hollywoodised when the movie was made in the late 50's. Now, I think they could really pull it off well if done right. The book is a great read!

I'm reading Death Line the third in a series of contemporary detective novels by Geraldine Evans. I would describe it as a "summer read "; nothing too taxing on the little grey cells.
