Heehee. We can't help it. And yes, he's just so perfect for Colonel Brandon. I definately can't help but want to snog him as well. :P (You British people and the word snog. I absolutely love it. It's been a favorite word of mine since I read the sixth HP book. :) )

So true, so true... I believe (by looking at your awesome siggy) that we are afflicted with the same love of Snape, so I know exactly what you're talking about. ;) :)

*cough* I've actually always disliked the word "snog". Sounds too.... unromantic and offhand.... but that might just me me..... *cough* ....

But that is so off topic, I am now doing a Dobby and ironing my hands.... *cough* ....

Meh.. snog is just one of those juvenile words I use. It's not as though I'm writing love sonnets or something.. I save that for my own personal writing. *shrugs* ;)

And no figuratively ironing your hands. *stern look*

Anyhoo, back on topic.. I've been looking up movie versions of Miss Austen's books and I thought I'd get started on Persuasion next. Turns out the film is in black and white.. or have I got the wrong one?

No, I know. I don't know why, it just always makes me feel uncomfortable. :lost: No idea why.

How about slamming my head in an oven door? :fish:

Urm, I didn't know there was one from way back then for Persuasian. I know there is a black and white P&P one, which I really want to see, but apart from that I don't really know. I've actuall got the BBC P&P series on DVD now. I really must try and watch it.... to see what all the fuss is about Colin Firth. ;)

*shrugs* I've always thought it was a cool word. That's probably just me in all of my America-ish-ness though. :P

And no, JF (or should I say Oh Master of Masterfull-ness, I particularly like that one out of your list. Queen of Bouncey Wouncy-ness also has a nice ring to it though. ;) ) you cannot figuratively slam your head into an oven door either. :)

And the BBC edition of P&P is amazing. Colin Firth- :swoon: - is the Alan Rickman of P&P. (Hope that made sense... :P)

Eh, it's okay. We all have words we're uncomfortable with. :-D And no, slamming your head in an oven door will not be tolerated either. *doubly stern look* :P

Actually it was made in 1999 or something like that which confused me greatly. I'll have to check IMDB I guess..
Oh goodness, Colin Firth has nothing on me. I'm too besotted with Matthew Macfayden. ;) Although I have heard the BBC version is worth watching, so I may have to rent it or something.

Yes, you definately should. It's very good, and you can't help but swoon over Colin Firth a bit at the end. But you're right- if I had a choice, I'd still pick Matthew Macfayden. ;)

Haha. "Snogging". teehheee... when me and my friends watched OotP in theaters last week we got up to leave after a while and there was a group of crazy teenagers in the back snogging so we were all: "Icky snogger-heads." "I dont wanna walk down a corridor and see you snogging in public!" (We've all read the books so it was hilarious!) but they didnt care b/c they were too busy snogging eachother to death.

Reviving the thread...

Just read Northanger Abbey, it was my first Austen experience and I quite liked her.. her witty irony, underplayed, subtle style etc. So now I feel like reading more.. but should it be P&P or S&S?
Hmm... I found the plot in Bath with all the balls and dancing and meeting acquaintances quite agreeable in Northanger Abbey so I wouldn't mind a plot like that. :-)
I also need to mention I am rather biased towards S&S because of Alan Rickman in the movie... I just watched P&P, the movie, again... and I only like the scene when Darcy declares his love for Kiera and she turns him down... oh and very last parts... what's the book like?

Oh the book is amazing as well. I don't even remember how many times I've reread P&P. It's definately my favorite, which is saying something with Austen since she's one of my favorite authors. It's definately worth the read.

Okay, thanks, so far two people have recommended P&P.. and no one S&S...

Sense and Sensibility isn't bad, but I'd read that AFTER Pride and Prejudice. Pride and Prejudice = hands down Jane Austen's best. I've reread it a billion times over the past..... *counts*.... five years. It never gets old. Every time, I wait to see if Lizzy/Darcy are going to get together, even though I know they are.

Also, you need to see the old, BBC version of the movie. It's one of my favorites. Much truer to the book than the 2005 version, and Colin Firth = so much swooning.
