Six chapters to go.. I'll be doing a chapter by chapter review when I'm done, so prepare yourself. It will probably include every single emotion I felt whilst reading. :teehee:

SPOLIERS

I still am trying to get it through my haed that this is the last book.

I liked it alright, I mean, it was so difrent from the frist 6 that it is a wee bit hard to compare it to them. NOt my favorite thought. That spot belongs to OOTP.

There were a bunch of things that i really could not stand near the end of the book. Really just because it felt like JK had taken fan theories and stuck them in there. I mean really, the thing with Snape and Lilly was so out of the blue for the book but the theory has been around forever. And I can really and sincerly say that I despise the face that Harry was a Horcrux. And, more of my hateds, could Voldemort have died in any more of a stupid way? Rebounded curse??? Didn't we already play that card JK? AND, last thing I swear, the Epilogue was corney and just plain stupid. Ok now I am done.

I can't really say that I was more affected when one person died then another. They have all been with us for so long that it was heartbreaking to let any of them go...excluding Beletrix just cause she was so disturbing to begin with. But I loved Headwig (why JK why?!?) and Moody, and Fred (that was an underhanded blow that one), and Remus, and Tonks!! Poor Wormtail even!! Now all the Muraders are dead!! I am even gonna miss Voldemort! I dunno about the rest of the world but I feel sorry for the poor guy. I have pitted him for a long time. I am gonna miss them all to much.

The Hallows were a pretty cool edition. I mean everyone kinda thought that "Deathly Hallows" could reffer to the Horcruxes but the fact that they were a tool for good was kinda nifty. BUT., just like the Horcruxes, they were introduced out of nowhere. I mean maybe if she had mentioned prehaps The Tales of Beedle the Bard earlier then it might have tied in better. It was the same with the Horcruxes back in HBP, out of nowhere, although i can't really see how she could have introduced those previously. But it varied from teh usual HP way of having even somekind of foreshadowing. Because the cloak could have just been that, an invisiblity cloak, all the time.

I think that is all I have to say, I'll proably think of something else later. No one else around here has finished the book yet so i have no ne to talk to. I of course Didn't bother going to bed until i had finished it after I got it at midnight. Oh I know what else, I am EXTERAMLY relieved that Seamus made it though alright, I wasn't even expecting to see him so that was a treat. But it would be a treat when your favorite is a rather minor character wouldn't it?

Spoilers from here on out! I repeat Spoilers, Spoilers, and more Spoilers! Okay I think that this is a thread where spoilers can go (if I understood Kitoky correctly) so I am about to post spoilers.

Well, from what I have read thus far (mainly a bunch of character pages and a summary (that is what I could find on the internet at this point. I read that because in all honesty I just do not have the money to buy the book and my local stores are seemingly incapable of keeping it in anyway :annoyed2:), I like the book overall. However I think that it could be much better. To me it seems allmost as though she got in a hurry there at the very end. It seemed like some things...actualy several things... were just left for us to guess at. For example what did Luna do for a living, did Luna get married, did she have any chilldren, did she remain in close contact with the trio, who did Draco marry, what did he do for a living, did he learn to tolerate all muggles and muggle borns or just the trio and a select few others (I use the term tolerate losely and I use that term because of the nod that he gave the trio at the end of the book), what became of Pansy, did Neville get married, did Neville have chilldren, why did Neville decide to become a teacher, what became of Percy after Fred's death, did Percy marry have chilldren and have a job, what did Ron and Hermione and Ginny do for a living, etc etc etc. I just feel like she forgot about some of her characters there at the end. After years of waiting I really would have liked some of the above questions to have been answered.

My main Dislikes
the lose ends
Ron and Hermione marring (though I knew it was coming...it's shippper thing...but I just had to get it out of my system...no offence meant to their fans though)
Lupin And Tonks both ending up dead (I could have dealt with it better if only one of them had died. It was a painful shock to me in honesty. I thought that one of them might die and had perhaps accepted that but both of them...was just too much in my opinion.)
The fact that the Tonks and Lupin's wedding was not focused upon for long enough (a wedding scene would have been nice)
That Bellatrix had to die (I understand why J. K. Rowling killed her and she just had to go...let's face it she was nearly if not as evil as Voldemort but it was still hard because she made such a good villian...truly frightening and evil to her core. In a following book perhaps she could have became the main villian? I know that the author does not plan to write another book...but I still could see it happening)
That Neville was not the one to kill Bellatrix

My main Likes
Ginny and Harry wedding and having chilldren
Narcissa telling Voldemort that Harry was dead (I felt like that was a cool trick on her part. Even if she was doing for her own good it did help Harry a bit, right? lol It was kind of nice to see that side of her)
It being revealed that Snape was a "good guy"
The fact that Tonks and Lupin did get married
Voldemort being destroyed (of course no offense meant towards his fans though)
That Molly flew off the handle when Bellatrix nearly killed Ginny. (It was a great scene for her in my opinion. It was nice to see a strong and determined side of Molly.)
Harry not ending up dead (Yes, I am as shocked as everyone else here that I just said that. lol As much as Harry could annoy me I am still glad that the hero lived! :-D)
That Neville played such an importent part in Voldemort's defeat (All that I can say is yay for Neville!)
That Percy made amends with his family and that he protected Fred's body

As many have said I too miss Fred. I had not exactly guessed him to be one of the characters to die. In honesty I had figured that they she would kill off Percy before she would kill one of the twins. However my way younger brother actualy guessed that one of twins would die (go figure before a week and a half ago he did not even know their names and he figured out that one of them were going to die  Whoa, dude). So I did get a chance to try to prepare myself for that possablity. I can not even begin to fathom how poor George would react. There were very few to no scenes were they were apart. (Another reason why I would really like to have learned what happened to George latter on.) The twins were two of my favorite minor characters. They were fun, exciting, sweet, yet trouble makers, and I loved them. Rest in peace, Fred.

I TOTALLY agree w/ Legolas Thranduilion. It does look like JKR just looked on the internet for some fan theories.

*SPOILERS*
Argh... I thought the epilogue was like a badly written fan-fiction.

The Snape/Lilly part was SO ADORABLE. I saw some theories online about their relationship, and they turned out to be correct, so I wasn't as shocked as I would have been to find that Snape loved her. I think it was just cute. "Tuney..."

I WAS surprised that Dumbledore planned his death. I also saw theories that Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him in advance in defense of Snape but I never took it seriously!

I GUESSED THE WRONG TWIN as well! For months I was convinced that it was GEORGE who would die. I just knew ONE of them had to...that would make it more tragic. I always thought it Fred had a larger prescence in the books than George and it would have been great if George had a moment of glory.

Why did Tonks AND Lupin have to die??? It would have been sad enough if ONE of them was killed, but now Teddy won't have any parents! T_T

And, so...is Harry a Horcrux??? Why didn't he die??? I am SO CONFUSED!!!

...sorry about all those cAPiTalS.

I don't honestly think JKR looked online for fan theories.
Afte all, as they are "theories" isn't it simply possible that fans guessed the correct thing?

... and fans don't just predict things without there being clues in the book... *gasp* maybe JKR left the clues there on purpose!

I despise JK. She's singe handedly killed off all my favorite characters! Poor Lupin... Poor Fred... Poor, like, everyone... But especially Lupin. Loved that guy.

Was I the only one who cried when they realized all four marauderers were dead? It was awful... Truly awful. Worst part of the book for me. That and Harry named his son Albus. I mean, he really should have been named Sirius. That would have been the best.

But the really good parts made up for it. I mean, our favorite seeker came back, didn't he? The one and only Viktor Krum! (:swoon:) And then there was Neville's moment of glory with Nagini and all those brilliant lines like "Nutty as Squirrel poo." And Draco lived. Granted, he gave his son a horrible name in the epilogue; even I could think of better ones, but he lived. Lived is all that mattered. Oh, yes, and when Mrs. Weasley cussed at Bellatrix before she killed her. I laughed for hours.

And Kreacher. I have new respect for Kreacher. What an awsome little elfie!

^I cried too when I realized all of the Mauraders were dead!! It was so unfair!! And I also said the exact same thing about naming him Sirius. I did love that Albus's middle name was Severus though, I absolutely loved the whole Lily/Severus thing.

Okay. Wow. 53 pages already?!

XD

So, I got the book...midnight party...read it all day yesterday at work. ;) Ha ha ha!

So, I thought it was a BRILLIANT piece of writing...til the end. Like the last 3 chapters had me in such a state of anger and frustration that I could probably kill someone. That stupid epilouge was just that. Stupid. BAH.
I didn't like the name "Albus"...but I liked the fact that Harry had the respect to give him the middle name of "Severus." That was the ONLY nice part about that endind.
*goes on ranting and raving*

BAH.

I think the best part of the book was the chapter, "The Prince's Tale". I was BAWLING my eyes out. One, I had totally predicted that...and TWO...it was just SO ADORABLE! *SQUEEEE*
When Snape admitted to actually loving Harry...I just burst into more tears. XD GAH. Lily/Severus! Bloody unbelievably amazing! *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* I don't think I've ever freaked out that much. :P It was just too much. GAH. Stupid James. ;)

As for all the deaths. GOOD LORD. I knew there were going to be a lot...but THAT many?! And ALL those awesome characters?!!! And HEDWIG?! What the hell?!

So, I'm pissed to high hell waters now about that stupid ending. PSSHHH!

*sigh*

GREAT book...til the end.

And Ron/Hermoine!!
*SQUEE*
But we all knew that was coming.
And the ONE person I wanted to die...doesn't. And marries Harry. BAH.
But Luna rocked. And so did Neville!

But, still. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to read those books knowing THAT ending. TOTAL squirrel poo.

I totally knew that all the Maruders were going to die, when she finished off Sirius *sniff* (my fave character) I knew that all of them had to die. I was actually disappointed that after all that hype about Pettigrew's silver hand (hello? Lupin's a werewolf, Pettigrew has a SILVER hand, even Fenrir would have worked) and it didn't go anywhere, save to kill himself.

The 19 years later thing was dumb beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Did it ever mention if Harry was an Auror or not? I wasn't particularly paying attention.

And the loss of our dear Fred...completely unforgiveable. Especialy after the great humor they pulled throughout the whole book... "saintlike." Haha.

Things I definitely liked...

Yay for Snape loving Lily, that was something unsuspected for me, because I tried to not read theories, and it was completely a surprise for me...

Yay for Neville. Enough said. Yay for Neville.

Yay for Harry being the last horcrux, and me totally winning a $20 bet that he was.

Yay for Harry yelling at Lupin. That was a brilliant scene over all. I love Lupin though, and I secertly wish that Lupin would have gone with Harry.

I'm sure there's more...

But the Marauderers... *sob* It's just so awfully awful!

I really liked how Harry was just as reckless a godfather as Sirius for Teddy. That rocked.

Oh that was definitely awesome too. Harry being Godfather to Teddy. Loved it.

I was expecting it. I mean, who else? I would have greatly prefered, though, if somewhere in those 700 something pages it said something about Harry having to take care of Teddy or something. Isn't that what godparents do in the absence of parents? Perhaps I'm merely mistaken. Wouldn't be the first time. I often believe impossible things before breakfast.

Yeah, that's true. That was something I was disappointed in. The only thing we heard about Teddy was him snogging Victoire? Whoever that is.

I wish the epilogue would have been like 5 years, not 19.

And naming one of his kids Albus, but not naming one Sirius? Come on now.

It's like, who didn't tell JK drugs were bad? I mean, there's sooo much lacking in that epilogue, its like she's secretly planning more books about the children or something.

Speaking of names, could she get any more random with Ron and Hermione's childrens names? Hugo and Rose, where'd that come from? At least Albus made a little sense. Hugo should have been Fred or something of that general nature.

EDIT: I had a snagging feeling Victoire was the daughter of Bill and Fleur. Something about one if he married her he would really be family from either Jamesey or Hugo.
