Post subject:  Sword of Truth series...

At the beginning of the summer, I found this awesome fantasy series. I recommend the Sword of Truth books to any fantasy fan. The first book is called Wizard's First Rule. I read it in like two days because I was so into it. I had to stop reading books for pleasure for a while because of my required summer reading list (honors english sucks! lol) so I am only on the third one (Blood of the Fold) right now. I was wondering if there were any other fans on A-U.

Ooh I'm in the middle of the 2nd one at the moment :D It's very good though I think I prefered the first one. I have to skim read some of the gruesome bits though :P

I think I actually prefer the second one. Although I like the first one because Richard and Kahlan are together more. You're right about it being really gruesome. Trust me, it gets worse, lol. But it's still really awesome.

Just finished Stone of Tears and I do think that it's at least as good as the first one now. When I said it wasn't as good before I was in the middle of the it with Zedd and Aidie which I found quite annoying.

I've just been down to the library to look for the 3rd and they don't have it :(

The books center around two main characters: Richard Cypher and Kahlan Amnell. Richard is a man who in the very beginning of the book we think is just a simple wood's guide. Very early on we find out that he is much more. Kahlan is a mysterious woman from far away who Richard rescues from four men who want to kill her. Another main character is Zedd. I'm not very good with summaries, so here's the summary from the back of the first book, Wizard's First Rule:

In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher's forest sanctuary seeking help... and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence.
In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachary and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword- to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that he rules of battle have just changed... or that their time has run out.

These are great books. Definitely some of my favorites. I've read the first four books and a little of the fifth. The fourth is probably my favorite so far. It's very emotional. There is quite a bit of strong graphic violence and sexual inneuindo (did I spell that right?) but it all ties in with the story and gives it more depth in my opinion. It's very romantic and I love it for that. I definitely reccommend it. Hope I helped! :-D

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! I luuuuuuv these books. Definitely one of my fave series of all time. I just finished Faith of the Fallen (book #6) last week, and I can't go out and buy the next one cause I'm pretty sure I'm getting it for Christmas. I know that's not all that long to wait, but I'm so impatient. I'm like going craaazzy! So who are your guys' fave characters? My #1 fave is probably Kahlan. She is totally awesome! But I also love Richard, Zedd, and Verna.

There's nine?

I've been kind of put off by hearing quite a lot of people say that they get a lot worse after the first 3 or 4 (I've read the first 3). That wouldn't stop me reading them if I could find them in the library but it does stop me buying them.

In my opinion they're still worth buying. I just got books 7, 8, and 9 for Christmas, and I can't wait to read them all. I don't think they get worse. I think they get better as you go.

Sorry for the double post, but I just wanted to bump this to see if anyone else was still reading these or has read them all. I'm about halfway through Chainfire (book 9) right, but I've taken this one more slowly than I did the others because my favorite character, Kahlan, isn't in this one (I want say why, as I don't want to spoil anyone), but it is still really good.

Anyone else?
