Well, pretty much what the title says. I was looking for a good, preferably long fantasy book to read. Any suggestions? *braces self for large onslaught of books (hopefully :P )*

If you like books on God mixed with fantasy and dragons, then you want:

The Dragons in our Midst Quartet by Bryan Davis(i tihnk that is the auther)

Or
Dragonspell by Donita K. Paul...

DRAGONLANCE. First book to read would be Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Saga of heroes-who-never-wanted-to-be-heroes of simply epic magnitude.

So, Tur... Are these 'Dragons in our midst' Christian? Or some other religon? As you said The had God in them... I am assuming they're christian, but just to be sure...

EDIT: Hmm... Odd. Dragonlance in the adult section... Is there anything in it that a 13 yr. old shouldn't read?

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I luuuuuuuuv these books. In my opinion, they have like everything a good fantasy read needs. It's got a lot of action, quite a bit of romance, and very very interesting and complex characters (both good and evil). If you haven't read these you should go pick up The Eye of the World (that's the first book in the series) from your library. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :-D

I also really really like The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. They are very interesting and I was hooked from the first chapter in the first book. But I will warn you that they contain pretty graphic scenes of violence and sex. So since you're 13 those might not be a good idea....

But you should definitely read the Wheel of Time series. They are like my favorites!

Well, Artemis beat me to it, but I'll back her up on her suggestion of The Eye of the World (and then its sequels). It's a decently-long book, lots of action, interesting plot, well-structured characters, romance, etc. It's really interesting.

Chris Wooding's Braided Path Trilogy are brilliant, really imaginative and well written. I'd also recommend anything by Garth Nix, particularly the old kingdom series.

Path of Fate, Path of Blood and Path of Honor(not in that order), are really good, there's a little bit of something something but they're not even a page long and you can skip them, they're goof, the Obsidian trilogy or something(The Outstretched Shadow, To Light a Candle and Darkness Falls or something) they're really good...umm, i'll have to think of some more.

Tamora Pierce is always good, Eragon, Eldest...umm...harry Potter is a good stand by, oh read His Majesty's Dragon, Throne of Jade and Black Powder War, those are rreally good.

Ooo! I know some...

Well, if you've never read Artemis Fowl (by Eoin Colfer), they're pretty awesome books. Also, depending on whether your parents are okay with it (I had a discussion with mine about these particular books) there's a trilogy of books (Edit: I remembered the name - The Bartimaeus Trilogy)by Jonathan Stroud that are really good - The Amulet of Samarkand, the Golem's Eye, and Ptolemy's Gate. There's a bit of magic-y stuff in there that makes some Christians uncomfortable.

And another favorite of mine, the Hollow Kingdom trilogy...mmm...I also remember reading an amusing quartet of books but now I forget the author. *Goes to look her up* Ah, Patricia Wrede. They're called the Enchanted Forest Chronicles - Dealing with Dragons, Searching for Dragons, Calling on Dragons, Talking to Dragons. A little bit juvenile, but I read them occasionally.

I'm sure as soon as I post this I'll remember more :)

EDIT: Yep, I did. Beauty by Robin McKinley is an AWESOME book, one of my very favorites, and another is Mara, Daughter of the Nile. It's not fantasy, but still really good. I stayed up until 1 in the morning reading it the first time. I also like some of Vivian Vande Velde's books, particularly Heir Apparent. Very humorous. Ah...oh yes, the Silverwing, Sunwing, Firewing trilogy by Kenneth Oppel...I'll stop now :)

Oh, and as an aside, my mom had a problem with Tamora Pierce, and personally I was sort of disgusted at all the climbing-into-bed-with-each-other the characters did, particularly in the Song of the Lioness quartet. Just so you know.

Well, I don't know what level you're looking for but the Warriors series by Erin Hunter is really good in my opinion. They're meant for (I think) middle-school age kids but I at 15 adore them. They're about groups or Clans of feral cats that live in a forest and have to hunt and fight to survive.

Read Janny Wurts' books; you'll love them! Start with "Curse of the Mistwraith" and move on ... they're highly enjoyable, and captivating, and aren't like most other fantasy series! I just can't describe them well enough.
