The books center around two main characters: Richard Cypher and Kahlan Amnell. Richard is a man who in the very beginning of the book we think is just a simple wood's guide. Very early on we find out that he is much more. Kahlan is a mysterious woman from far away who Richard rescues from four men who want to kill her. Another main character is Zedd. I'm not very good with summaries, so here's the summary from the back of the first book, Wizard's First Rule:
In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher's forest sanctuary seeking help... and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence.
In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachary and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword- to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that he rules of battle have just changed... or that their time has run out.
These are great books. Definitely some of my favorites. I've read the first four books and a little of the fifth. The fourth is probably my favorite so far. It's very emotional. There is quite a bit of strong graphic violence and sexual inneuindo (did I spell that right?) but it all ties in with the story and gives it more depth in my opinion. It's very romantic and I love it for that. I definitely reccommend it. Hope I helped!
