As a few of you may have gathered from my posts in the Prancing Pony section, i am a big fan of the IC series by Christopher Paolini.

But lately as i have been rereading the books, i have come up with a few questions that i wanted to know what other fans thought of.

1) About Brom, who did he love in the past? and why was his affection their undoing ? (as says Angela the Herbalist when talking to Eragon upon his arrival in Farthen Dur)

I suspect it could possibly have been Selena. Eragon and Murtagh's mother. And this is for the following reasons

Selena left Morzan and Murtagh but why?

Presumably if Morzan had known his partner/wife was pregnant with his second child, he would never have let her have the opportunity to escape in the first place. As he would have wished to protect his heir, and Selena from the rest of the Forsworn + Galbatorix.

Is it possible that Selena hadn't told Morzan about the pregnancy because she doubted whether he was the father? Maybe she was with Brom at the time, and was half convinced in her mind that HE was the sire of her unborn child. (Bearing in mind that Morzan and Brom had been close friends when they were Riders, Brom had adored Morzan until he had betrayed the other Riders) And so wishing to protect her child, Selena had fled, back to Carvahall (using what power she had, and tricks Morzan had taught her originally to keep her from the 13 traitors) and gave the baby to her brother Garrow and his wife, for their own, knowing it was unsafe to keep the baby with her, with Morzan hunting for her, and then fled to find Brom?

What Brom said to Eragon about his mother

Brom told Eragon when he was asked, that he knew his mother 'well enough to miss her when she was gone'.

Now what does this mean? It could simply mean that they were friends, or it could be (knowing how closed and secretive Brom is about his past - especially to Eragon) that they had been a couple. Maybe, had Brom survived, he might have eventually revealed as (as well as about him once being a Leader of the Varden, and being close friends with Morzan, and being a pupil of Oromis, The Cripple that Is Whole)

*strokes chin thoughtfully* i think that there is a lot about Brom that will be revealed in the coming books, although it could be my brain having seen too much soap-esque storylines and watched Star Wars too many times ("I am Your Father" Bwahahaha)

:bounce:

Also i have another question and it is about Murtagh / Galbatorix

How did Galbatorix find out Murtagh's True Name? In Eragon Brom says that while Elves instinctivley know theirs, human riders usually had to undergo quests to discover theirs, or find an Elf to tell them, which was unusual because that knowlege was normally not freely given.

And that is about your own name, how would you discover someone's true name before they do? How did Galbatorix manage this, i am wondering if there are certain black spells to find this out? or maybe he tortured the information out of an Elf?

Although Elves are meant to be noble, and resist the King's methods of finding out information, whose to say that one wasn't drugged or tricked into giving it?

3) And what about Murtagh;s dragon Thorn, is he too enslaved? does he feel sympathy for Murtagh, that there is a bond between them similar to Eragon and Saphira, or do you believe that they are bonded together through dark magic, or that Thorn maybe is not a 'Good' Dragon...

4) Another question, about Arya.
In the prologue of Eragon, Arya and two other Elves approach a forest, where Urgals and the Shade Durza wait in secret.

Later in Eldest, when Eragon asks about the slain Elves, on the way to Elesmera, Arya reveals them to be called Glenwing and Faolin.
Glenwing used to love speaking to birds, she says, and both were proud warriors, although when asked about what Faolin was like, she reacts thusly
[i]"And Faolin?" This time Arya refused to answer, though her hands tightened on her bow"[/i}

Eragon constantly asks, why is Arya so sad (or wonders why) and the other Elves will not say why. Do you think her aloofness, and her seeming aversion to be in a relationship with Eragon (not including the fact she doesn't think they would work out) is because she was with Faolin and is still mourning his death?

Yes i know, i am seeing lost love everywhere LOL

:) these are my questions for now :P I would be most interested in hearing people's thoughts.

My questions and theories may seem a bit odd lol  i am in that state of mind today though haha (when am i ever not?)

Also i am aware there is an Eldest post here, but i kind of thought as i had so many q's to do a seperate post ;)

Thanks :) hope ur all well guys! :trampoline:
