Post subject:  Edgar Allan Poe
Do any of you like his works? I love them, personally. They are definatley not your ordinary every day reading material. My favorites would have to be...oh. Probably Hop Frog, Tell Tale Heart, and the Raven. I also like Annabel Lee. That's such a sweet poem.

Oh, lots of stuff. He was most likely a drug adict and an alchoholic. Not only that, but just about every woman in his life died. He probably suffered from depression too. I did a report on him and I started to feel really bad for him.

I like his stories, too! My faves would be The Tell-Tale Heart, A Cask of Amontialldo (can't spell, sorry), and...um...my mind is blank. The Black Cat was pretty good, too. Oh, and I liked The Raven.

OOOOH! Edgar Allan Poe.

I LOVE his work! I always have! When I was probably like 10, my dad gave me a book...his complete collection in one giant book. :P I haven't read it in a while, but I've read it a few times.

My absolute FAVOURITE poem by him is "Dream Within A Dream." Just really heartbreaking and beautiful.

As for short stories, oh there are too many. :P There WAS one...ohhh, what is it called?!

OH! *shouts with joy* OH! I remember! "The Fall Of The House Of Usher". BRILLIANT. ABSOLUTELY fantastic!

I'm not a huge fan of poetry or short stories, but something about Edgar Allan Poe just fascinates me. Draws me in. Mmm...LOVE him!

LOVE. I LOVE EDGAR ALLAN POE. I have his full works in one volume, and I love it. I haven't read the whole thing yet of course, but I love what I have read. The Tell-Tale Heart was the first thing of his I ever read and consequently is a long time favorite. His other poetry is good too though, though some of it can be confusing at times. I also really liked his short story Tha Cask of Amontillado. My entire family thought I was grossly morbid to even want to read Edgar Allen Poe in the first place. My book also has a biography of him in the front that was pretty good.

Cast of Armontillado is so good. I read Hop Frog again last night. That's such a good story. It makes me laugh every time! (Is that good or bad?)

I'd say it's good because I laugh too when I'm reading his stories. Mainly because he is a master of satire and irony, and that's the kind of humor I like. Other people might think you were weird or downright morbid, but who really cares what they think? :P

I think he really fits my morbid way of life. :P Either I liked him because of how morbid I am, or maybe reading him at such a young age made me so morbid. ;) Either way, he helped. :P

I really need to read his stuff again. I miss it! :P

For me I think it's more because I am so morbid that I enjoy his morbidity, but I have read his stuff since I was very young. One of my grade school teachers read him to us every Halloween. That was fun.

His stories have so much irony in them. I don't think I even realized how much until we had to analyze a few of them for English class. They're dripping with irony. And the scary thing is that I love it.

The fact that he wrote nearly all of this under the influence of heavy doses of opium really makes me lose no respect for him and his genius. Our teachers would always downplay him because of that, as if they were trying to say he didn't have any real talent. But that's not true. He had to have been a mad genius to have some of that stuff in his head, even if it took a little opium to make it come out. :P

I should read him again too. I'm between books so now is probably a good time. Hmm...

EDIT: I read The Pit and the Pendulum yesterday. Soooo good.
