Post subject:  Jane Austen's Unknown Novel: Lady Susan

I'm not sure if anyone else here has ever heard of Lady Susan? It's in The Complete Works of Jane Austen, an anthology I own, and most readers don't know of it. If anyone else out there has heard of Lady Susan or read it, I would like to know.

In case you didn't know, it is different from most of Jane Austen's books, as it is written in the form of letters. The main character is a widow, Lady Susan, whose main goal in life is for her and her daughter to find a husband. Lady Susan, though, is selfish and cruel, and would murder her own mother to achieve what she wants.[/i]

I've The Complete Works of Jane Austen as well, but I haven't gotten around to reading Lady Susan yet. I had no idea on what it could possibly be about. But now that I know, I'll have more motivation to actually read it. :P

No, I haven't! But it sure sounds exciting! I'll have to keep that book in mind.

I've read that book now, I borrowed it from the library. I've also read the stories Lesley Castle, The History of England, Catharine or the Bower, Love and Friendship, A Collection of Letters and the Three Sisters.

I've just borrowed the Watsons as well. I like the letter format which she used in a few of her short stories. A very ingenius way to write. :-)
