^OMG, since when did you read all those??? This is pretty much my reading list for the paradisic times ensuing my thesis-writing in hell. "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" <-- I think I saw it as a play once... The are characters from Hamlet? |

What do you mean, when did I read all these? Not all at once, that's for sure. I pretty much don't own a book that I haven't read. Which basically means I don't buy a book that I haven't read. Unless it's in a series that I'm reading ... You've seen "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" performed??!!! JEALOUS. Well, I've seen the movie with Tim Roth and Gary Oldman, which is epic. But I've never seen it performed. Yeah, it's the characters from Hamlet. When we read "Hamlet" in my Humanities class, my teacher was awesome enough to show the movie, R&G Are Dead. After that, I went out and bought the play ... and it's really the only reason I got through Hamlet. |

There's probably a reason I have avoided this thread before now. We had about about 1,000 books in our house at one time, but we've had to get rid of some over the years. There are 392 in the dining room alone. I have a lot of my kids books, so I'm not going to be listing them. I have a lot on non-novels as well so they're going on here whether people like it or not. Completely edited post I did post here last night but this thread spurred me to catalogue my books. Taken about 6 hours to do it and I haven't got all of my books. There are some still dotted around bookshelves in the house and a lot of my childhood books are in the loft. I've tried to remember as many as a I can from the loft but I cba with going up there to have a look at them because it will be freezing. Anyway, the following is a list of nearly all of my books. I've tried to organise them into fiction and non-fiction and then historical fiction, fantasy etc. However, some authors have books in different genres so I've just lumped them together. For example, Manda Scott. Most of her books that I've got are historical fiction (although they're classed as fantasy in America because Americans can't comprehend 2000 years ago as being historical so they have to have it as fantasy (NOT MY WORDS! Manda herself told me that! ) ) but two of her books that I've got (Nightmares and No Good Deed) are crime books but in this list I've put them with her other books because it's easier for me. I feel like a quick explanation is needed for some of my stranger books... I did classical civilisation at A level. That's where we studied Ancient Greek and Roman literature in English translations. However, I have a bit of a hobby of collecting older books which are written in Greek/Latin as well as having the English translations I used for college. So here we go! Firstly, the oldest book I have is some sort of learning English book made for schoolchildren in Russia. So the title is in Russian and I can't read the type-face. It has English, Russian and Greek inside it. It was printed in St Petersburg in 1801. The gods only know how it ended up in our house but we found it when we did a massive chuck out of books (over 500 in total *sobs* ) a few years ago. I insisted on keeping it because it's so strange. I'll take photos of it sometime and put them in here. Now onto my other books. Fiction books Historical Fiction Manda Scott Boudica: Dreaming the Eagle. Boudica: Dreaming the Bull. Boudica: Dreaming the Hound. Boudica: Dreaming the Serpent Spear. Rome: The Emperor's Spy. Rome: The Coming of the King. No Good Deed. Nightmares. So far the list I've complied is numbering to 376 books. I'm going to keep on adding to it as I keep finding my books from whenever they've ended up in the house. (And obviously as I keep on buying books. ) I've worked out that about 50 or so of the books listed above are books brought as presents for me or (mainly in the case of Enid Blyton and the Redwall series) are hand-me-downs from my siblings. All the other books I've brought in the last 5 years. |

Lets see, I have too many books to list, it would take forever and I wont have enough time to read before bed! And I'm currently collecting all of the books in the MONK series by Lee Goldberg, and the Burn Notice books from Tod Goldberg. Both book series are based off of tv shows from the USA network. |

My wife and I have roughly 1500 books. Some from school / college / university times are more like booklets, well under 100 pages. But then I left out well over 100 comic books (mostly European stuff like Asterix the Gaul which are probably unknown in the US). But I'm guessing if one would apply some more restrictive definitions to the term book, the count would still be way above 1000. No way I'm ever going to catalog them, the days when I did the same for my record collection (expanded later by my CDs), probably starting more than twenty years ago, are long gone. |

I really don't know how many books I have but there are seven bookcases full of them. I have one bookcase that contains only scifi/fantasy books. Another bookcase contains a variety of esoteric writings, including Aleister Crowley, The Golden Bough, and a variety of other mystical offerings. A third bookcase contains three Encyclopaedic sets, and numerous other reference books (grammar, dictionaries, & etc.) I also have at least a thousand books on my e-reader. |

One thing I like about my wood-pulp collection is that even the one million most “brilliant” hackers of the planet don’t have a snowball’s chance in Angband to change one single pixel – while anything in the criminal’s paradise called the Internet is vulnerable to forgery. |
