- The Kingkiller Chronicle is a fantasy trilogy by Patrick Rothfuss (b. 1973), telling the autobiography of Kvothe an adventurer, arcanist, and famous musician. The plot is divided into two different action threads: the present, where Kvothe tells the story of his life to Devan Lochees (known as Chronicler) in the main room of his inn, and Kvothe's past, the story in question, which comprises the majority of the books. The present-day interludes are in the third person from the perspective of multiple characters, while the story of Kvothe's life is told entirely in the first person from his own perspective. The series also contains many metafictional stories-within-stories from varying perspectives, most of which are recounted by Kvothe, having been heard from other characters in his past.

The above pretty much sums up what you need to know about the series. When I was introduced to these books by my cousin, he told me "This is the next Lord of the Rings." Well, it's true he was exaggerating because we both knew there's hardly anything that can compare to Tolkien's work but his somewhat false and hugely manipulative statement aside...
these books are very good. I've read bloggers reviews that state the main character as being one giant Marty Stu. Truthfully, I do agree with this to a certain point but at the same time it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the books. I mean, seriously...is there a main character that has never managed to get you angry? 
Rothfuss is an excellent writer, in fact, he far exceeds Paolini imo. So has anyone else read these? If you haven't, I thoroughly recommend you do.
The second part was also very nice, although I read that in a hurry so I've planned to read it again during my holiday, when I have some more time, because it absolutely deserves to be read with attention
