Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James is one of the books I could not finish :(

Why is there a sad face? :P It's a book no one should even start. :throw:
I haven't read it so I shouldn't judge but I have so much hate for that book and its fans

I wish if it was a pure idea of the author; indeed it's a Twilight Fan Fiction gone famous lol.
I also fear if my beloved Stephen Amell plays Mr. Grey.

I'm just alarmed that they're turning it into a film in the first place--they have a different name for that kind of, er, entertainment. :erm: Hopefully any self-respecting actors/actresses will turn down the roles if they're offered, though. :frust:

I have a habit of starting a lot of books at once. So I don't always get around to completing everything.

Alternately- I got one chapter into Twilight before I returned it to the library.

I do the same thing Nienna! I start tons of books at once and sometimes never get around to finishing them! It's a shame sometimes, other times....it's not.

I also started reading the Twilight series because my mom's friend loaned them to her and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I made it through the first book (which was a struggle at times) and then went onto reading the second one, but, I didn't make it far before giving up. I couldn't deal with Bella's constant whining about...everything. Blech.

I used to love Twilight. It was so different from what I normally read that it was quite nice having a book that required no brain power to read. :p

I gave away my copies of the books a couple of years ago though. I do want to see the last film just because of the eye candy (Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene) but I'll only see it once. (Might give away my DVDs of Twilight and New Moon... )

Am I the only one who loves the fact that 50 Shades of Grey got published? For me, an avid fan fiction writer as well, it just kind of proves that what I write isn't useless. As I'm very often told. "It's a waste of time, you can't ever get published" - F you very much, clearly fan fiction authors can be published too if they just put an effort into it. I'm writing a Walking Dead story now, for example, which I'm going to turn into an original story further down the line, and then put in two-three years of editing and fine touching, and then try to get it published. Knowing that a book like 50 Shades started out as a fan fic and then turned into what it is today spurs my eagerness to write what I love, while knowing it's not a waste of time.

I gave my Twilight Saga books away too :) .

I hate and Love 50 shades only because (may be) Stephen Amell will be Mr. Grey.

Oh my goodness, people are going to hate me (if you're a huge scifi fan, that is).

I couldn't finish Ender's Game.

I know, I know. It's like a kids book, but I finally got around to reading it so that I could see the movie. Obviously, I gave up. I love scifi and dystopian novels, but this book rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe because it's all about kids. It felt implausible, even for a scifi novel! (And maybe I just can't stand military/political fiction).

Despite trying several times I can't seem to finish Les Miserables. The general plot of the story sounds nice, but the actual story just doesn't do it for me.

^Have you seen the musical or either of the two films? I haven't actually tried to read the book, but I'm a huge fan of the musical and the movies. I'm afraid I'll be disappointed if I read the book. :P

The Death Gate Cycle series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I like their Dragonlance books, but for some reason this series didn't grab me. I made it about halfway through the first book. I've considered giving it another go, but I've also considered freeing up some much needed shelf space and selling the books.

I found World without end by Ken Follet to be too inappropriate for my tastes (even if I am a young adult), so I quit reading. I mean, I like for my stories to have edge and adventure, but overly inappropriate or sexual and it gets old.
