((Possibly in the wrong part of the forums, but can be moved if it's more appropriate elsewhere?))
Firstly, for those who don't know, LAMDA is the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. I've been taking these examinations since I was about 10, and you can take them in full drama, in mime, in speech, in delivery of verse and prose, in public speaking...and a variety of other courses suited to anyone interested.
Really, it's well worth having a go since you meet great people, they're LOADS of fun, and they count towards future education as well.
For any of those in the UK (and outside it as well, now I think of it), LAMDA have finally been added to the UCAs points for University entry.
Under any subject, the markings are as follows:
Grade 6
Distinction = C at AS (40 points)
Merit = C/D at AS (35 points)
Pass = E at AS (20 Points)
Grade 7
Distinction = A/B at AS (55 points)
Merit = B at AS (50 points)
Pass = C/D at AS (35 points)
Grade 8
Distinction = C/D at A2 (65 points)
Merit = A at AS, D at A2 (60 points)
Pass = B/C at AS, D/E at A2 (45 points)
The courses available are pretty extensive, so if you're interested; check it out at
The Lamda Examination Page.
I'm hoping to take my Grade 8 next year, and I hope this has been interesting to a few people.
And, as a sidenote...
For the Speaking of Verse and Prose Grade 6 - "The Fellowship of the Ring" is one of the possible texts for the Prose piece!
