So Fencing Maiden and I discovered that we both like P.G. Wodehouse--is there another Plum lover out there?
I. Adore. Psmith. Seriously. He has to be the most hilarious character ever. My sister and I will whisper random Psmith-y phrases to each other and start laughing at odd times.
I (heresy of heresies) like Psmith better than Jeeves and Wooster. Terrible but true. Psmith is the only tin-type on my mantelpiece.
I do too! I also like Psmith better than Jeeves and Wooster, though Bertie still cracks me up!
Wodehouse is pure awesomeness... I've read almost all of his books. I LOVE how he adveritised himself in his books.
I.E. “...the very smart young man stated that he would read nothing but Dickens and Wodehouse, and he had come to like Wodehouse a great deal more.”
And then the irony in his romances... *DIES*
There are SO many quotables in his books too! Here are some Joy [FM] favorites...
" You can't stick lighted matches between the toes of an English butler. He would raise his eyebrows and freeze you with a glance. You'd feel as if he had caught you using the wrong fork. "
"He was dry and shaken, like a white martini."
"She had as many curves as a scenic railway."
"What ho!" I said.
"What ho! What ho!" said Monty.
"What ho! What ho! What ho!"
And after that it was difficult to go on with the conversation.
"He tottered blindly towards the bar like a camel making for an oasis after a hard day at the office. "

I'm going to go out on a limb here...
I believe my old school did an adaptation of one of his stories as the high school show two years ago. There's a good chance I'm convincing him with someone, so I feel stupid already. >.< The play was called "Crime Wave at Blandings" and was about a Lord Emsworth (I think??) and his family. It revolved around a kid with an airgun that kept shooting people in, well, the tush. It was hilarious, whoever wrote it.

Oh! It being Wodehouse I have to get a few of his books- what's the title of the one containing the story about Lord Emsworth?
The play was really funny. A friend of mine played Lord E, and did a really fabulous job. I wish I had a video so I could show you.
And thank you.
