I'll say... *is still recovering* When did you start taking flute lessons?

I play Flute, for three years, then I took a two year break and I'm playing again. I think it's a pretty instrument. :-D

I'm trying to decide whether to play flute or oboe... I need to talk to someone who plays oboe before I can decide, though. Star Gazer had me pretty convinced about flute before I listened to Swan Lake and heard the oboe there.

hmm... mabye I'll get a job at Yamaha as a saleswoman or somethin'... :P jk. Oboe is really nice, I havn't heard them all that much, but they go REALLY low. Most student flutes (like mine) can only go down to middle C, and some can go down to B, and some can go lower, but flute is mostly for high notes... kinda annoying sometimes, when you can't play a favorite song and all, but its fine if you move it up an octive.

If you guys get a chance, go to flutelab.com - they have some really cool swan neck and virtical head joints. (I don't have one, but anyway...) I would just show you a pic, but I can't get the pic by itself for some odd reason. :annoyed2:

Oooh, so many flute players! I used to be a flute player. I started when I was in 5th grade, so that was about........10 years ago. Wow. I didn't think it had been that long! I played all throughout middle school and highschool, which would be that I played the flute of 8 years. I was never that good. I mean, I was okay. If I had really gotten into it and practiced, I'm sure I would have been fine. :P (I never wanted to play the flute, I wanted to be in percussion, but I had a sexist band teacher in middle school who never let any girls play percussion. No matter HOW good they were!...So, I chose the next smallest instrument...ha ha ha ha)
I always loved being a flutist (floutist?) when we did marching band. Don't really know why. Ha ha ha.
And I always loved watching people of other instruments try and play the flute. They could never hold it correctly, and get any sound. Really, very fun stuff! Ha ha ha ha!
I know this girl who is a flute/piccalo player. And WOW. She's unbelievable. She's gone to New York for all of these competitions and stuff. And won lots of stuff! CRAZY!

By the way Star Gazer, I like your banner and avvie!!! :)

Thanks! and about the band teacher... I hate people like that. Yes, I believe that women and men both have their places, and that women should not have all of the roles or places that men have, if you have a talent, you should be able to use it.
