I found her name on an indie music website. The first time I heard a few of her songs, I just couldn't get into it. Her songs are very mellow and the instrumentation is pretty sparse so you have to be in the right mind set.

I am now addicted. I recommend listening to these songs to get you started:

Lived in Bars
The Greatest

She has a fantastic voice.

If you like Feist, then you'd like Cat Power.

Hmmmmm I did give her a listen. At first I thought the song was a bit bland but the second time I listened to it, it was a lot better. Funny how that happens sometimes. Her singing style is great and I love the mellowness.

Do you listen to Zero 7 or Sia?

I've listened to Cat Power a little bit, but I've never really got into her..I should try listening to her again. I would like to like her....because she is so mellowwww and I like mellowwww music!

My friend has gone to see Cat Power 3 times in concert...the first two she left in the middle because people were talking in the audience. He said this happens frequently because she gets really nervous when performing.

I love Zero 7! The Garden is one of my favorite cds!

Oh yeah that's a great CD. If you haven't listened to Sia's solo work, I recommend "Breathe Me". It was used in the season finale of Six Feet Under and it's SO gorgeous.

But yeah mellow music = love.

Her music definitely requires a second listen. I now have 3 of her CDs and I absolutely love them. Some songs I'd recommend if you're starting out:

Love and Communication
Maybe Not
I Don't Blame You

She also does fantastic covers, she has two full CDs plus an EP of covers I believe.

I have never heard Zero 7, I will check them out. I have a couple of Sia's songs, I'm gonna look into getting some more. Thanks for the suggestions!
