I got this idea from another forum, and it seemed like an interesting idea. Basically, someone will post a link to a song (preferably youtube since it's the easiest) and the next poster has to listen to the whole thing, and then write a few sentences about what they thought of it, what elements they liked or disliked, etc. Then THEY have to post a link to a song and the next poster writes about it, and so on.
First song: Channel 1 Suite - The Cinematic Orchestra

I love this idea! *listens to keyodie's song*
Hmm. I can't say that I'm a fan, but it's interesting to listen to songs in different genres. It was too repetitive for me and I couldn't understand the repeating phrase (different language, I guess?). It made me pretty calm, though.
Second song: "Swept Away" - Flyleaf

Haha I can see where it gets repetitive, the song was kind of old the second time. And I love genres! It's so interesting the vastly different music that can be created by different groups.
I'm going to be a little tough on this one because I think Flyleaf's older album far surpasses their new one. They kinda went for standard elements in other recent rock songs and I was pretty disappointed. For example, the beginning with the hard intro and her singing in monotone, at first quietly but picking up in intensity as she goes into a full-on scream, is something I've heard way too often before. Also, the transition into the chorus is a bit confusing and the climax isn't climactic, because I wasn't even sure if it was the chorus or some kind of bridge. Their stuff just isn't as melodic as it used to be, and they're sticking with the repetition of notes close to eachother like a lot of other bands to cheat their way into something climactic. The ending with the distorted music box is also overused if you ask me.
From what I can tell though, their lyrics are still impressive.

Well, keyo. This is a rather large leap in regards to my usual musical taste. The distorted vocals were a nice choice but I found the random screams rather distracting. But then again, I'm not a huge fan of screaming. The opening sequence was just awesome. Yet I can't see that this song is all that different from others I've heard. But I do love the opening part!

Keyodie, I definitely understand where you're coming from. I prefer this cd to their old one because i like the production, layering, and vocals better, but I think the other one had more power and originality. I picked that song because I think the beginning is weird enough to be awesome.
Elegost, I actually really like that song! The music is beautiful, and the muted vocals really add to the power of the song and highlight the lyrics. Very good choice!
To carry on with the mellow theme...

Wow her voice is gorgeous! I also love the repetition in the lyrics, though the lyrics didn't click for me entirely. I totally fell in love with her voice though, I'll have to check out her other stuff.

@Ellie: Yes, got to love the eye candy. That's actually a music video for that song so, make what you will.
I think I rather like the new 30 Seconds to Mars album. Particularly the Kings and Queens song. The beginning was really good (I just love the piano and the electronics) and I much like the anguished cries in the middle as it crescendos (yes! musical terms). And while I'm not a huge fan of Kanye West (he blasphemed against the holy gods of music, Radiohead), he wasn't all that bad here. But I prefer Jared Leto's voice over his.
Something a little different:

I liked it quite a bit. The song was relaxing and filled me with inspiration. The piano at the beginning was beautiful. *listens to the song again*
I just recently became really interested in this band. The music video is beautiful in my opinion:

Well I do love the beginning. Very quirky yet great. Then the vocals were very chaotic and then just mellows down. From what I can hear from the lyrics, it's rather interesting. What I like the most is the fluctations between the soft vocals and the crazy guitars (?)

@ Elegost Eruaphadion: I like the album Carnival of Rust. My friends really love Revolution Roulette as well.
I enjoyed it. I fell in love with her voice. o.0 The violin solo was soft and relaxing as well. Very pretty song. I will have to look into them.
Another song:
"Moon Crying" - Koda Kumi

(Don't worry I found one with English subs. This song always makes me cry. )
Sorry, I listen to a lot of foreign music. XD

@ Elegost: The rest of the soundtrack is brilliant! It has a wistful, playful feel to it with occasional bittersweet moments (like the song you listened to). It's one of my favorites.
I actually didn't find this song sad at all! They lyrics were sweet, but the music didn't bring the emotion through for me. The vocals were pretty decent, but the repetitiveness of the same theme got to be a bit much. I would have preferred some more minor key sections and an expansion of the melody to enhance the sad lyrics and vocals.
And now for something completely different.

keyodie, I fell in love with that 30 Seconds to Mars song you posted. You have insane taste in music.

It was a very interesting vocal mix. I liked the song. Not really my style but I will have to recommend them to a few friends.
What song to pick...

The first thing I noticed was the lead singer's unique and creepy eye makeup! The music video is strangely frightening, but the song is awesome. I love the vocals, and the style is reminiscent of Project 86 (who I love). I really like the powerful message.

It was ok... not my thing, but I don't really listen to country that often. Nice and slow though. I liked it well enough. I love when the tambourine joins in.

Unfortunately this is one of the types of music I'm not TOO incredibly into, the acoustic thing. I kinda zoned out while I was listening to it. xD But I can appreciate different kinds of music, and I can see he has talent in that genre.
EDIT: Listened to it again and loved it. Sometimes it helps to pay attention to the song. Sometimes. Love the way the chorus climaxes and his voice delivers during the chorus, it's great.
Here is a bizarre one (99% of you won't be used to this):

Two years of exposure with you somewhat prepared me for this so HA! I'm one of the 1%. Take that, keyo! Anyway, it's really weird because I can't find a purpose for this song. It's much too fast for working out or dancing so. Good for raves, I bet though. I kinda liked it nevertheless.
