I think it's great when people are just being themselves and don't care about what other people think. Life is too short for bothering about what you shouldn't do, or what might seem inappropriate to others. It's their loss, not yours!

Just a comment:

If you wear black, it doesn't make you goth. It's who you are. I saw someone wearing all black, and then she was acting like a prep. If you wear pink and bright colors, you can still be goth. It doesn't matter if you like blackor not. I'm not really goth, but black is my favorite color.

One of my friends has taken to labelling me 'emo'--I told her I don't need a label to be what I want to be. She was pretty stunned at that.

What are labels, anyway? They don't mean anything? It just means you follow the crowd [no offence meant to anyone here]. I hate being labelled, and I doubt that anyone here likes being labelled in any way, meant offensively or not.

The only thing I really class myself as is a metaller. But there is so many genres and sub-genres that it broadens the scope a bit wider.

Even with that, I've been called not a "true metaller" because I listen to things they deem "not true to the scene". Well scuse me, but NO-ONE tells me what I can and can't listen to.
If it's good then I could care less what genre it is. If snooty elitist reverse snobs like that don't like it. Tough.
Some people take it a bit too seriously.

Yeah people label me all the time...it gets very wierd after a while and don't forget annoying...I wear black mostly every single day, but that's me. I'm getting sickin' tired of people calling me a Goth wannabe. It really hurts my feelings... *a tear trickles down cheek* *sniff sniff*
