Tar was still talking to herself and laughing quietly when she looked at the baby carrots and finally had a revelation.
"Oh man, I'm SO dumb." She said to herself quietly. "Last year. The carrots. Man, THAT was a party."

"Well if it pleases you m'lady then it shall please me also" said The Horseman to Lady Death and bowed once again. Noticing the look on Lord Death's face he coughed and said "I take it there are no children where you come from? Or plans for any?" he added under his breath".
Noticing another guest arriving, The Horseman went to the now mended door to greet her. "Hello and welcome to this fine structural wonder" he said as the floorboards creaked and the windows rattled.

Seeing everyone gravitation towards the newcomer, Tar figured she would join in the party (pun not intended), and looked to see TT standing in the doorway.
"Welcome welcome! Isn't this just a splendid party! It reminds me of...well, never mind." Tar said, controlling herself.

TT stared at the Horseman... at loss for words. "Yes... it is an, er... structural wonder?" TT turned back to look at the door. "What happened to it before", she asked?
TT heard someone's voice. "Lady Death, is it?". She grinned. "Thank you kindly. But I'm not alone.... the, er, Horseman here is near me..."... "here for my soul, apparently", she added under her breath.
EDIT: "Tar!". She smiled. "I hadn't seen you...". She paused. Unsure of whether to inquire after Tar's... memories.

"Er, that was me I'm afraid" said The Horseman "my horse and myself got a little bit excited at seeing life around here so we broke it down. But I did fix it" he added hastily.
"Upon my honour, the soul business is all a lie to attract the ladies. Apparently they like that sort of thing, or so a great uncle once told me."

Haldir tipped his head to his mother-in-law out of respect and MH smiled. "Indeed. Except Lord Pararnoid over here," she gestered to her husband. "Doesn't really want to be here." Haldir rolled his eyes.
"I am not surprised that so many ideas are coming to you in a place like this. It is the perfect setting for a good mystery novel I would think. I wish you the best of luck on your novel then. I hope to read it when it's finished."
MH wondered where to explore first but her stomach spoke for her. It was well past dinner hour and they had not eaten yet. "Come dearest, let's go see what they have at the refreshment table."
"As you wish love," Haldir said.
MH looked at the food wondering what to nibble on. She remember what her mother had said about the carrots. She also remember what went around with the baby carrots last year and agreed that the same thing twice was silly, nor did she think the carrots were old. The hostess would not serve old food, right? MH loved baby carrots but perhaps she will shun from them.
Haldir too, looked at the refreshments, everthing looked alright in his eyes. He did overhear someone talking of spiked punch and that only brought an unpleasent memory back. Not wanting to relive it again, he leaned over and whispered into his wife's ear, "Stayed away from the punch." MH sighed knowing why he wanted her to avoid it. He hasn't let her drink it since. She just shrugged and reached over for an oatmeal and raisin cookie and nibbled on it.

From where she stood against the wall PD could see everyone coming and going. She watched as TT entered, not feeling quite so bad about being apparently late. She continued humming her little tune.

"Meh, no problem TT. I'm just being a wallflower today, apparently." Tar said, with a grin, looking down at her striking green dress and heels.
"And you can take my soul any day, dear." Tar said to the Horseman. "That's so very Meet Joe Black. Except you know...you're not Brad Pitt."

Lord Death nodded, but didn't elaborate, and proceeded to wander off toward the punch bowl. Lady Death sighed. "That's a bit of a sore point with him, you see," she said quietly, "Being dead does make having living children a bit hard."
Lady Death laughed at TT's remark, but upon seeing the Horseman's face she stifled it quickly.

"Ahhh". TT nodded. "Aye. I can see that. How, might I ask, did you manage to fix it?" She paused... "Uhmm... I see." Secretly, she wondered what kind of honour code the Horseman had. "Your uncle must have been a very mise man".
TT backed away from the door as Haldir and her husband arrived. And, in doing so, noticed her mother, back agaisnt the wall, humming a tune. Embaressed, TT turned away. What kind of person would hum at... such a place? 
EDIT: Again, TT had missed Tar and Lady Death as well.
"You better not laugh at him", TT said to the Lady, ever so descretly.

"Madam" said The Horseman to Tar. "I have seen Brad Pitt and I am somewhat glad I am not him what with 9 million children and all that" he added with a sniff. "Thank you for the offer anyway, but that is not what I do."
Turning to Lady Death "I am sorry to hear of his..er.. difficulties but I suppose the problem was always there, being dead and all I mean".

"Yes, well, we've learned to cope I suppose," replied Lady Death politely. "I'm still rather excited about seeing the children though." She smiled discreetly so that her husband wouldn't see. "Now where has our hostess been off to?"
She looked around and caught of PD still standing off to the side. "PD, dear, won't you join us?" she called jovially.

Saffron had wandered off to the snack table. She eyed the baby carrots curiously, wandering why the other guests seemed to avoid them. Shrugging, she grabbed an oatmeal cookie and shoved it into her mouth. "Wanner if 'eres any umpkin eye," she said with her mouth full.

"I believe there was an unfortunate incident with a year old carrot last Halloween" whispered The Horseman as he took Saffron to the side to explain. "I also believe someone died because of it".
"However" he added in a louder voice. "My Eliza would be very grateful for some, she is none to pleased to be in the cloakroom but she would hate the outside even more. Women" he added with a sigh.
