there's not really that many people with flowers/garden/nature type things in their profile.
I found; you Evening PD ~vaguely & possibly Fragile on the Inside though that's roses not wildflowers
also, at the moment I second Violet Grape

I have looked through thge profiles and with the exception of the people I have mentioned in the summaries as having notebooks, and the people who I found to have a like/dislike of spiders, I couldn't see anything that related to anything else.
Violet Grape looks like a very likely suspect, but it relies heavily on her killing someone for revenge. And I'm not sure if that is a big red herring clue or not.

Okay..
I have a nice theory..
I found out that the band Take That wrote the soundtrack for the movie Stardust.
Also, in LOST Nikki and Paolo are killed by a very poisenous spider-bite (well almost.. I mean Hurley et all were so stupid to burry them alive.. but that aside..)
Who do we know is an avid Septimus-lover?
Who do we know is obsessed over LOST?
Yes..
The Headless Horseman!

Revenge
I'm not sure about the revenge motive. Yes, the killer could be one of Nurr's victims from last year, but then again there were so many who died, and in general it's just a nice and easy way to throw us off in the direction of revenge because Nurr was the first person to be murdered.
Spiders
I really like the spider clue, but it's also a very obvious clue because that is something people specifically have stated in their profile, so if it's a valid clue basically it narrows the field dramatically, and isn't it too early for that? I mean would the killer risk that?
Flowers
If that's a real clue, it's also a vague clue. I can't think of it as being a clue in just 'flowers'. If there is something about it, I have a feeling it must be a vague connection like New Zealand.. the smell.. wild or something like that.
I don't know... but I wouldn't mind putting my vote on The Headless Horseman.
I can't back it up with waterproof evidence.. it's just a theory I want to try out.

Perhaps my evidence does support your theory Eä?

Your Septimus-theory?
Umm... not really...no offense to your good work though. But I haven't seen anything with Septimus... so he can't convince me. And I'm not sure Septimus only would be the common denominator, but since you threw out the name and even backed it up with research, I'd like to agree with you, based on a feeling I have.

Well actually it was more that the Band Take That wrote the soundtrack of Stardust, a movie in which Septimus is a main character and the Headless Horseman is fan of.
I think the clues are not as easy that everyone who (dis)likes spiders could be a potential killer

Oo, Sparkle I like the way you think! I wouldn't mind casting my vote in our dear Headless Horseman's direction. I was also looking at Fuschia Rivers. She just seemed suspicious to me. No offense dear.

I like Sparkles' theory, much more interesting than my own.
I've done a little more searching, but I haven't come up with too much. It doesn't say that Violet likes flowers, but she definitely does like purple... and food. Perhaps the chocolate ties in with the love of food?
As for the Horseman theory, I still refuse to believe that the lovable Headless Horseman could be the perpetrator of all this.

Gah. So many different ideas here.
I like the Horseman idea just because accusing him... her... JF... whatever... sounds so... ridiculous.. because he... her... JF... whatever is so sweet..
I dunno what's relevant or not, really. Some must be red herrings, others...? Like Ea pointed out, the spider seems so obvious... too obvious... but then, for what it's worth, I looked into black widows... they have a red hourglass on them... we do have a few people posting all in red, don't we?
So confused.

Tsk, tsk, Ea-lay.
They've got a red marking, shaped like an hourglass, on their underside.

Indeed they do. I've tried to do some research on their symbolism, but I haven't come up with hardly anything. One place did say that they were a symbol of vengeance, but I don't know if that would really fit.
[randomness]Perhaps the murderer is a Spiderman fanatic?[/randomness]

I find it strange everyone's on in late-morning. (At least, it was late-morning for me when most of these posts were made.)
Anyway, how do we know that the killer's afraid of spiders? Yes, s/he used gloves, but I think that hardly proves anything when handling incredibly poisonous spiders.
Therefore, I believe this killer is someone who doesn't dislike spiders. After all, if the killer really did dislike spiders, s/he could think of another way to kill Lydia and Evening that doesn't involve spiders.
Also, we could take the fact it was a black widow to mean the killer is a woman.
By the way, kudos to Sparkle * for finding out Take That wrote the soundtrack to Stardust. I think that's important.
And obviously, New Zealand suggests that the killer likes LotR.
...
Well, that narrows it right down.
