Morfinneth came bouncing into the room and said cheerfully, "Hello! Hello! Happy Halloween all!" Her husband came following behind her, with smile upon his face, and silently laughing.

It was nearing the end and so, feeling fairly confident the killer probably wouldn't strike, PD spent more time then usual this morning on her toilette. By the time she joined the others it was quite late. "Happy Halloween!" She exclaimed for indeed it was happy this year... since they would be out of this nightmare mansion soon.

[for those of you who are interested about the death by umbrella here you go. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgi_Markov ]
The Horseman came downstairs and went into the dining room. Just as he had done practically every other day with the exception of the tree incident. He nodded approvingly at the Halloween deorations and sat down to to eat.
Meanwhile.... in a field not far from here....
Eliza had not expected it to happen, it had just happened. There she was, a well looked after horse, with an overly indulgent master, who she knew deep down would walk into fire if he had to for her, or for anyone he cared about really, even if he didn't always show it. And she did meet interesting people, and get into interesting situations but still.. something was lacking in her life.
This was all the more obvious when her master attended these sorts of gatherings. Oh, he was as considerate as usual, and the food she ws given was always top notch, but his attention was never quite fully on her, and he tended to consult with real people, more than with herself, as was his norm. It was times like that, that she became aware of how much companionship the human offered her, and made her realise that perhaps she needed the companionship with someone of her own species?
There had of course been Ned the carthorse from last years Hallowfest. Even now she still felt a twinge of embarrassment over that fiasco. It was all to do with rebelling really. An opportunity to show her master that she was not to be kept in a closet and forgotten (at least this year she could wander freely as and when she chose), and although she got some nice flowers and chocolates out of the correspondance, even she admitted to herself that it was a disaster, born out of a rebellious streak inhertited from her mother and frustration.
She had taken to exploring the house and grounds over the course of the past few days. It was not good for her skin to be kept indoors for long without feeling the breeze in her hair. She had already picked out the best shady areas to sit under if the Otober sun becamse fierce. She knew were the nearest watering hole was, and she had found a long stretch of grass, perfect for getting the blood flowing with kicking and running, early in the morning. But what she really needed was a patchy, dry area to have a good role in.
On this particular day she had trotted further than usual. She could still see the house but it was a much smaller speck on the landscape than usual. Even the evil Sleepy Hollow tree was hard to see. She kept going for some half hour, before she came to a fenced field. The field was nothing particular, it was a good size and it had nice grass. What caught Eliza's attention was a large area in the middle, which was a perfect for her dust bath. "Fences are no match for me" said Eliza to herself as she elegantly leapt over the fence and cantered towards the patch of earth. "This is the life" sighed Eliza as she rolled along the ground, and scrunched her sides and her back against the earth. Over and over again, she repeated the process until she was satisfied with the outcome. She stood up and kicked and bucked happily, before coming to a standstill. Her coat was gleaming in the early morning light, and as she was about to head back towards the fence, she heard a neigh.
Turning, Eliza's knees almost buckled. Heading towards her was the biggest stallion she had ever seen. Jet black, with the gleam of the sun on his coat, his muscles rippled as he cantered over to where she stood, unsteadily, but she was standing all the same. His long mane was flowing in the wind, and his dark black eyes were locked onto his target. His move was elegant and graceful but.. but masculine all the same. "He's..he's heading for me!" Eliza squeaked, and she began to straighten her legs and look nonchalent, when really all she wanted to do was turn around and jump the fence.
"Phoar!" thought Raven as he spotted the chestnut mare who had been using his dust bath. "Phoar!" he said again as he watched her athletism as she was using his dust bath. "Phoar!" he said again for no particular reason, as he speeded on down to his dust bath after she finished using it.
What transpired without all the neighing and hoof beating was this. (And if the Horseman could hear Eliza speak, he would probably be surprised to find out she actually had a Southern American accent.)
"Hello"
[giggles]"Hello"
"I don't think I have seen you before?"
"Naw, I'm stayin’ at the mansion house over there [points with hoof] for a few weeks. Myself and my master that is."
"The mansion house eh? Haven't had anyone there for a long time."
"You wouldn't believe all the things that have been goin' on thar. Killin's and murders an' all sorts"
"Murders? Really? How awfully interesting. I'm a big fan of murder mysteries, it must be terribly exciting to be admist one. Have they found the murderer yet?"
[neighing laugh]"Ya must be jokin', those twerps can barely find the bathroom most days!" [neighing laugh] "They haven't got a clue who's doin' 'em in. Like every year. They're gonna sit there and wait until they all get bumped off, one by one". "Even my master who normally has two brain cells to put together, he's one sock short of a pair!" [neighing laugh]
"How thrilling to be a part of something do exciting! Did you say this happens every year? You must lead a very exciting life."
"Well... it happens more often than it should... and I suppose my life is kinda excitin' an' all."
"I say, I do wish I could be there when they catch the killer!"
"Oh, they won't catch the killer, the killer will be revealed to them as they'll never guess. I know who killed those guests though."
"Do you really?"
"Oh, yes. I know exactly how and why, same as last year."
"You are a very clever horse... er.. I'm sorry I do not know your name?"
[giggles]"Eliza"
"Eliza, what a charming name. I am Raven."
[sighs]"Raven".
"May I walk you back to your mansion then Eliza?"
"Please do"
.....
To be continued...

Sparkle danced into the dining room. "Oh hello!" she said surprised, she'd not expected someone inside. "So.." she sighed deeply. "It's Halloween at last. Some way.. it makes me sad." She fell down in a comfortable chair and plucked at the shiny fabric of her orange dress.

The Horseman glanced at Sparkle as she entered. She was very sparkly, as usual and also looked very Halloweeny. "I see you are dressed for the ocassion" he said with a smile-tha-was-there-but-no-one-could-see-it.

"I lóve Halloween" she smiled. "It is such an orange and pumpkin-filled festivity." She looked at the Horseman but because he had no eh.. *ahem* she could not tap into his mood. "So how are you today?" she asked.

"I am fine, thank you" he aded. "I like Halloween as well. I never used to much, what with people's reaction when you enter a town and such things. But in recent years it has become an important part of the year for me. Even more so this year" he added.

Sparkle looked at the Horseman in admiration but also with some pity. She wanted to shout: "I have never had any friends either!" but she decided that such an exclamation would make her look pathetic. "I've never been much among people either.." Sparkle responded instead. "But therapy did help alot."
She curmbled absent minded some crumbs on the table. "I enjoyed the party this year.."

"Well this has been the perfect opportunity for both of us then" said The Horseman looking directly at Sparkle. "To meet new people, and to make new friendships" he added.

Sparkle, who did not notice that the Horseman was looking at her because he had no eh.. *ahem*, was still looking at the crumbs, although her heart seemed to beat twice as fast. "Oh yes.." she giggled "I met alot of new people and I did make new friendships, some of which I hope they will last a very long time.."

Maeve eyed Sparkle and the Horseman with some amount of hesitation unsure of whether she should intrude on their moment together. There was such little time left in the mansion after all. Instead she waved at PD and Morfinneth and smiled. "Happy Halloween to you two!"

"Well at least we will both have some good memories then" said The Horseman. Then he realised he had been staring and coughing, he started to look at his empty plate.

Sparkle noticed the Horseman's coughing and gradually her face colored red, which matched nicely with her orange pumpkin dress. "So.." she said softly "Do they have telephones in the place where you live?" Sparkle switched with a seat closer to the Horseman and really hoped that he did not notice her blush. "I might want to ask your number" she said and she coughed. "To invite you!" Sparkle quickly added. "There are some fantastic hairbraiding workshops which I might like to introduce you to."

"Erm" said The Horseman, tugging nervously at his collar. "I believe I do" he said wondering why he would need to know about hair braiding.
[me too, I'll be back later]

(Only 5 more pages, you guys!)
Deria swept down the stairs, having put herself into the red-and-black-with-lots-of-roses-outfit, which could only be accompanied by a sweeping manner. "Good...morning...sort....of...to you all!" she said brightly. "Happy Halloween!" She paused at seeing Sparkle and the Horseman and backed away a few steps. "Er, um, I'm just going to lean against this wall here..." she made herself look preoccupied with her slim notebook which had been produced again. Aria watched Faredane take his leave, then turned back to Cor... Hmm, that section looked all right. She tucked the pen back into her cloak and yawned.
(That's the next sentence I'm writing in my actual book. ^^)
(EDIT: AHHHH! Where is everyone? Did EVERYONE have something that ensured they would be gone today??)
