Lhun looked fondly at her daughter swirling in her husband's arms. They made a lovely couple on the dancefloor, and Erin seemed to hold herself pretty well in her long dress. As the couple left the dancefloor again, she turned to her husband "Have you tried that wine yet? I'm sure you'll like it." She didn't drink much herself, so she picked a small glass with apple cider and looked around.
"We should really go and greet the others now." John mentioned. "There's your sister and her husband, have you greeted them yet?" Lhun felt a blush rise to her cheeks; she had been so busy looking at her newly wed daughter that she'd forgotten all about the other guests. She decided to wave and smile at the other guests and saving a longer conversation for later, so she could first say hello to her sister. "Lithi! It's been so long since we've last seen each other!"

"Sister!" Tink said as Lhun and Thornton approached. "How are you, and you, John? I have to say your daughter picked a beautiful place to have a party! Oh, I dont believe you've officially met my new husband yet." she added, motioning to Hook beside her. "This is--"
She stopped as someone from the other side of the room exclaimed "Where did my ring go?!"
"Hook!" Tink sighed, giving him a stern look as she held her hand out to him. He tried to look innocent at first before giving in, flashing a smile as he handed the stolen ring over. She shook her head, turning back to her sister and her husband. "This is Killian Jones, or rather Hook, as he prefers." Hook gave the others an acknowledging nod as Tink finished the introductions. "I swear, stealing things at a family party! He's just trying to push my buttons!" Tink grumbled quietly to Lhun.

While the guests were talking and enjoying the music, some of the young dwarves decided to make some fun of their own. Telling jokes and singing some mocking songs about the "fire drake, who met his end." Some jokes were told in quite bad taste about the elves, but thankfully neither Thranduil, Erin nor their guards heard those. There might just have been another battle, if they did.
Thranduil had gone out onto the ramparts, for a reason that he neglected to tell Erin. His wife was entirely unaware of where her husband had gone. One moment he was there, the next he was gone and the guards had gotten closer. Every time she looked in their direction, they stopped in their tracks. To amuse herself, Erin looked away from them and then glanced back two seconds later. She had to resist the temptation to laugh, because she had to act like a proper queen. Queens didn't mess with her guards for a few laughs.
Erin thought that the dwarves of the mountain and the elves of the woodlands should try to get along, since their kingdoms were so close, yet so far away. Maybe her aunt was right, the family ties would bridge that gap eventually.

"It was a lot easier than trying to convince Thorin to come to the woodland realm." Marida told Erin, when she came over to her and Thorin (with the absense of Thranduil, luckily for Thorin) for allowing them to have their wedding reception in Erebor. Even though it took a little convincing to allow them to come here, it would have been worse if it was the other way around, since Erin's new husband was the one who imprisioned Thorin in the woodland realm in the quest to retake Erebor, so he still had a grudge against him (and all Elves). It was sad that their two races had such a falling out, since such proud people should be able to get along with each other, but there may come a time when the two of them may have to work together, so perhaps that would fix things, but only time would tell.
Marida was more curious about the guards that Erin and Thranduil brought with them. "What's with the guards?" she asked. She hoped that Thranduil wasn't going to have her executed for simply drinking out of a dwarven cup, since that was a little excessive. "There will be no executions in our kingdom." Marida thought to herself, glancing towards her husband, who was turned away from Thranduil, though he seemed to glance back towards him when he went out on the ramparts. Something was up, and Marida sure hoped that it wasn't another attack, since she wasn't prepared for that kind of reception.

Erin glanced at the guards again, to stop them in their tracks. "You know, I don't rightly know. Seven moons past, I was walking through Mirkwood, singing to myself. All of a sudden, half of the guard surrounded me, and told me that I had to return to our realm, by order of the king. Ever since then, even if I so much as want to step a toe out of the kingdom, these two have followed me." Erin looked out for her husband, who had not resurfaced yet. "Maybe it is a royalty thing." That was her reasoning for anything that happened, that she didn't quite understand.
A dwarven woman came over with a silver platter, offering the guests some little treats from the buffet table. Erin tasted one. Erin liked it so much, she took the platter off the the woman, so save her the bother of going to the buffet table. The dwarf woman was more than happy to go get another platter, to offer the guests.
"I haven't eaten since this morning. I was so determined to get Thranduil here, we couldn't stop off at Laketown for a few hours."

"Why dont you go mingle, Killian?" Tink suggested as her husband studied the room. He shook his head. "I'll be staying near you, love. If what you've told me about the history between dwarves and elves is true, those guards that follow our niece around--"
"We're at a family party Killi, nothing will happen. She's the new queen of their realm, of course she'll be guarded!" Tink assured him. "Much like you have members of the crew, plus yourself, stand guard over me when on land."
"Even so, I'll stay right here." he stubbornly replied, giving the room one last scan before turning to John Thornton, attempting to strike up a conversation.
At least his concern has distracted him from stealing! Tink thought, accepting a tasty treat from a platter offered to her by one of the dwarves.

Thranduil returned to the party. Before returning to his new bride's side, he dismissed the guards. However, the guards just lingered near the doorway, one of them still watched Erin. He saw himself as her personal guard.
"Are you going to tell me what that was about?" asked Erin.
Thranduil shook his head. He glanced in Thorin's direction. No acknowledgement, just a glance. His attention returned to Erin. In the elven-tongue, he said, "Sing for us, Lónannûniel, your voice is much more tollerable, than this wailing."
One of the older dwarven men had gotten both drunk and vocal. He sang a very slurred song, in a very off key tone.
"Oh, I couldn't," said Erin, with a blush. Singing in the woodland realm, where everyone was obligated to clap and cheer was one thing, but singing in front of family and a race that disliked her for the fact that she was half elven was another.
Thranduil managed to talk her into it. Erin instructed the band to play a slow melody. She sang a heart filled song, about a maiden Grey Havens bound, waiting for her king. Half of the song was untranslated in the elven-tongue. Not that she understood those parts. She was yet to adapt fully to the language. The song was written for her, by someone from the Realm.

"Thornton and Hook seem to get along pretty well." Lhun mentioned to her sister. "It's a shame we're rarely able to leave the mill, or we'd visit you guys more often!" While the men talked she let her eyes wander across the room. Marida and Erin had resumed new positions with a certain amount of distance between them, so their husbands couldn't cross paths by accident. After Erin had finished her song, the band continued their previous melodies; easy tunes that invited the guests to the dance floor. Lhun helped herself to a small platter of food before she walked around to admire the structure and decorations of the hall.
"Are you ready to dance my dear?" John suddenly turned up at her left side, placing his hand in the small of his back. "I was waiting for you to finish your talk with your brother-in-law." "He's certainly an interesting man, although his interests are in another.. trade.. than ours. But since it's our daughter's wedding, I think we should at least have one dance." Without further explanation he placed her emply plate on a nearby table, and lead her to the floor. "I am not familiar with these tunes, but I think we can manage an easy waltz."

"You seemed to get on well with John." Tink said as Hook rejoined her. Hook nodded. "He seems a decent sort. Though our paths are entirely different." Tink laughed, then looked at him in amusement as he held his hand out to her. "Care for a dance, love?" he said. "I'd love one." she replied, taking his hand. He led her out near other dancing couples, sliding his arm around her waist and holding his hook out to the side. She took hold of the hook as easily as one would take hold of a hand and let him lead her across the floor.

Erin left the stage, wanting so much to sing more. Singing was something she always enjoyed. It was her singing after all, that attracted Thranduil in the first place. All of her songs were sad, or of a time forgotten. Clearly the band had no interest in providing the music for them.
She fetched a plate of food from the buffet table, with intentions of encouraging Thranduil to try some. At first, he seemed against the idea, but she managed to talk him into it. It was a fair compromise after all. She sang for the party, he should eat something from the buffet table.
Erin doubted that Thranduil would go for the whole cut the wedding cake thing, so this was as close as they would get.
"I love attending parties," Erin admitted. She had intended to think it, but the words had escaped her lips.
"There shall be another tonight," Thranduil replied.
"Really? Why?"
"One reception for your family, one for our people. It would be wrong for us to deny them a celebration."

Erin decided that standing around was not her idea of fun. She wanted to play some games. She asked a nearby dwarf to fetch her some items, that they could use for some party games she liked to play with some of the younger elves in the Woodland Realm. (Not that there were that many younger elves!) Or more close to the mark, the more young at heart elves. He wrote them down on a bit of parchment, and went on his way.
"I have to see if some of our other guests would like to play some games," said Erin, before heading on her way.
"Lónannûniel," Thranduil called after her, with some annoyance. Oh why did she have to be such a independant thinker? Thranduil thought to himself. He often wondered why the mysterious maiden, who sung in the moonlight, just had to be Erin. Why couldn't it have been a woman who would sit contently on her throne, or stand at his side?
Not that Erin was aware of such thoughts. She was already halfway through the crowd, telling everyone of the games she was in the process of setting up.

"I'll join the games!" Lhun exclaimed happily. After the dancing she had taken some time to sit down and eat some of the delicious food, but right now she felt ready to do something fun again.
"Will you join us as well dear?" She asked John, who was sitting next to her. "Maybe I'll just watch the other guests participate for a while. I'm not really in the mood for games, and I would really like to see some more of the machineries that were used to build this place. Our own machines could use some improvement, and I'll gladly take advice from these skilled craftsmen, if they are willing to teach me." Before he had even finished speaking one of the Dwarves came up to him, hands clasped together and bearing a polite but exciting smile on his face. "It is not our usual custom to show strangers around our machines, but for a far relative who owns a similar company we can surely make an exception. You may follow me, if you are interested to learn more." With a bright smile and a quick kiss on her cheek, John got up and walked away, happily chatting with his smaller companion.
Lhun smiled and sat back, waiting for further explanation from Erin about the games they were about to play.

"All of my games are purely luck based," Erin explained. "When the dwarven man comes back with all the items, we can start playing."

Tink took a seat by Lhun, sipping from a goblet she had gotten from one of the dwarves. "A game could be interesting! I asked Killian if he'd care to join. His response was, considering he's a 300 year old pirate, he'll pass...Well, that was the innocent version of his response, anyway." she added with a grin. "Now I just have to hope he keeps his hand where its supposed to be, and his hook as well!" she added, watching Hook mill about the room and accept some food offered to him.

"I was thinking of asking John to take Hook with him on his tour through the mines, but based on your stories I'm not so sure it would be a good idea to let Hook get near the treasury. It seems like we've both found ourselves husbands who can only think about their work and making profit, one way or the other." Lhun murmered at her sister.

"Well, Hook is an opportunistic type. If one presents itself, he seizes it. If one doesn't, then he starts planning how to make it an opportunity. Though I will say he puts those he cares about above treasure, even." Tink quietly explained to her sister, a fond smile on her face as she continued to watch Hook. "But don't tell him I said that. A pirate's reputation is important, you know!...Honestly, I trust him. The little trouble he's stirred up so far he's only done to pester me a bit, mainly because he knows I get more amused than I do angry. But I agree, its probably best not to tempt him with a treasury tour!" As though Hook could sense they were talking about him, he glanced over at them and flashed the pair a smile. "Good lord, that man's smile is going to kill me one day..." Tink muttered to Lhun.
