Taur stumbled out of her compartment well past noon after a horrible night's sleep. She found her way to the dining car, though goodness knows how; she could barely keep her eyes open. "Good, erm, morning everybody." she said. "One of you get me some coffee please," she said, waving her hand vaguely at the assembled staff and sitting down at a table. A few seconds later, a steward brought her coffee with just the right amount of cream and sugar. Taur took a long sip. "Ah, that's better. I didn't sleep well at all-- I never do in new places. So how is everyone? No one translucent? That's good! I told you we could break the curse." she said smugly.

"When a Broadway baby says goodnight, it's early in the mornin'. Manhattan babies don't sleep tight until the dawn..." Clarissa sang as she made her way to the dining car, having slept until noon as she liked to do. Clarissa had slept splendidly, only waking up once or twice due to the unfamiliar movement of the train. Her dreams had been odd, filled with visions of long, empty train cars much like this one and strange, disembodied voices calling out to her. Her suspicious side was kicking in, but she forced the logical part of her brain--which, being a creative free spirit as she was, was rather small--to believe that it was simply due to her current reading material and the unfamiliar voices of her fellow passengers that she had had such dreams.

Now, happily munching a breakfast of Belgian waffles topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, she looked curiously at Taurquende. "What curse?" she asked, her mouth still full of waffle.

Taur took another sip of her coffee. "Oh, it's just, you know, 'round this time of year, people usually, you know, uh... die!" she told Clarissa and gave a unnaturally high laugh.

Clarissa froze, her fork halfway to her mouth. She couldn't tell if Taur was serious, or simply playing a bit of a Halloween joke. "Er...don't people die...all year round?" she asked. "What makes 'this time of year' so special? If you're trying to make a joke, I'm afraid it's gone right over my head."

Crystal gave her order of eggs over easy, bacon, and sausage to one of the waiters. She hear Taur talking and turned around so she could hear more. "I've heard a lot of rumors about these Hallowfest parties. My editor wanted me to do a story on them while I was here. I of course told him no-I really am on vacation- but I think my story would have been boring anyway. This party so far has been wonderful. No ghosts floating about or anything of the sort. Congrats."

Crystal turned back around to find her plate of food waiting for her. Really, how do they do that?!

Sparkle smiled as Moririellë asked to join them. "Not at all!" she giggled. "The more the merrier!" She poured Moririellë a cup of chamomile tea, while taking a second cookie herself. Sparkle sat back in her comfortable chair and enjoyed how the morning sunlight shone on her silver hair. "So you come from the Golden Woods?' she asked Moririellë. "Is it sparkly there?"

Taur awkwardly fiddled with the tablecloth. "Well, no, it's not exactly a joke..." she said nervously. "And of course people do die all year round, but at Halloween it seems to be mostly" --here she dropped her voice to a whisper and leaned in close-- "A-Uers! But of course, we're all safe this year! We're going to Monte Carlo!" Taur continued with renewed confidence that may or may not have been genuine. "Oh, I'm glad you're having a good time, Crystal!" she continued, glad to change the subject. "It's a good thing you didn't do that article for your editor. We don't want these parties to get a bad reputation!"

"Oh, are you going to to the Entertainment Car, Algernon?" Taur said. "I'll take you on in a game of pool, if you like." She followed him along the corridor through the train.

"A game does sound good. Is anyone interested in a good game of ping-pong or air hockey?" Crystal asked the remaining guests in the dining car as she stood up from her seat.

Liesl quickly finished up her plate of eggs and bacon, and then stood up. "I'd like air hockey, if anyone's interested. Just the thing after a good meal."

She joined the group of passengers going to the Entertainment Car, eager to put all this talk of death, curses and whatnot from her mind.

"Alright, but be ready to get beat, "Crystal joked as she made her way towards the entertainment car. "So, you're Liesl, right?" Crystal asked as she came up beside the other passenger. "What brings you here?"

"Ah, yes. Moving is difficult enough, but doing it with siblings makes it even harder. As for me, I join work-coholic anonymous, and they suggested I take a vacation.....Not really. I have always wanted to go Monte Carlo, and this train ride seemed like a wonderful way to do it!" Crystal said as they entered the game room. "Okay, you ready to loose at air-hockey?"
