JF wandered around the mansion and lamented how un-Christmassy everywhere looked. "The least they could have done was left a tree when they rented the place" she muttered about the lack of consideration from the previous owners. "It's such a big place, we'll never be able to get it ready for our guests without some ideas" .....

Discuss how you would like to see the mansion decorated. How do you think the Gardens, Ballroom and Banquet Hall should look?

Your Guide To Each Event:

- Masquerade: From midnight on the stated Masquerade days, if you are taking part, you change your username and signature so no-one will know who you are. You can even disguise your partner if he/she is fictional by changing their name to something else. The idea is to a) confuse people and b) be someone else for a day. You can post in the Masquerade thread or any of the ball threads, as long as you keep your real name a secret. At the end of each day, return to your normal Yule Ball name. When both Masquerades are over, reveal who you are in the Masquerade thread.

- Decorate A Tree: On the correct days, find the Decorate A Tree thread and choose from a multitude of trees and decorations to create your own very unique tree.

- Snowball Fight: On the appointed days, go the Snowball Fight thread and join in with the mayhem and madness in a special area of the Gardens.

- Build A Snowman: Let your artistic talent shine, as from the objects provided, build your snowman and then decorate it with POTC, LOTR, HP themed accessories as well as many, many more.

- Reveal Secret Santa's: Let all of AU know, to whom you gave tour gifts.

Special Events:

- Caroling: As you move around the forum, bring some Christmas cheer, and with each post, write one line from any carol you wish.

Well ,we should start with the basics...
-A few (or more) trees
-Some lights
-Greenery (garlands, etc.)

For the Gardens, definitely some snow, although that shouldn't need our help, and maybe some ivy plants and such.

For the Ballroom, keep the stuff out of the way of the people dancing, so I'd suggest mainly lights and wall decorations, and a couple trees in the corners. That is, if we don't have a tight budget ;)

I don't have any ideas for the Banquet Hall yet, but I'll post them here as soon as I think of them.

(JF, how did you get that awesomely awesome gradient text?)

Poinsettias! We can put poinsettas in the gardens, and maybe around the trees in the corner of the ballroom. The outside of the mansion can be decorated with those nifty icecycle lights.

And we could have a big tree in the banquet hall, decorated with tinsel and garland and shiny ornaments and all that good stuff...

Some good things to add :-D

SWARVOSKI CRYSTALS!

They shine and glitter so luminously when put in front of christmas lights! They would look nice EVERYWHERE.

Maybe some ice sculptures closer to the actual date, like deer grazing, or perhaps a few little trees. It would look nice in the garden. If we don't get any snow, like ESA said, ivy and things like that would look nice.

For the banquet hall, I'd suggest crystal chandeliers (think Beauty and the Beast), with garlands intertwined with little lights on the walls.

Pandora, I absolutely LOVE those pictures! That's an excellent idea for our decorations.

I agree with all of the above posts, and I'd like to add one more thing. We need to have candles in the banquet hall. Colored red and green ones, just plain white ones, or even groups of them in the center of the tables. Hanging some from the ceiling would be nice, too.

The gardens definitely need fountains, benches, and maybe a little greenhouse area where there are flowers.

Don't forget the ice sculptures folks! And I insist that we have swan boats that float on the lake. :teehee:

Perfect! :D

And we also need lots and lots of lanterns and fairly lights hung from trees.

Some fire pits out in the garden would be nice. Just to keep the hands warm. Oh! And mistletoe! Can't have a Christmas gathering without mistletoe.

Yes, and holly, too! :)

And what about hanging long, thick strands of greenery over the main doors, decorated with red and white ribbons?

Yes, we must have garlands around the doors and lots of red ribbons.

And plenty of fires outside.
