There were large trees and small trees. Thin trees and fat trees. Bushy trees and roomier trees. Some sat in brightly coloured pots, others stood freestanding. All were available and willing to be decorated. JF glanced at the tables laden with decorating materials - garlands, holly, tinsel, skull and crossbones, swords, mince pies, gingerbread men, Gandalf's hat. Everything you could possibly wish for to make any tree your own. JF added the finishing touch to her tree, and added a card next to it labelled "Sexy misunderstood people", and gazed at the baubles depicting Septimus, Tavington and Snape and all her other poor misunderstoods.....

<center>Decorate the tree of your choice with whatever decorations you would like. Add a place card next to it when you're done to explain your "theme".</center>

Your Guide To Each Event:

- Masquerade: From midnight on the stated Masquerade days, if you are taking part, you change your username and signature so no-one will know who you are. You can even disguise your partner if he/she is fictional by changing their name to something else. The idea is to a) confuse people and b) be someone else for a day. You can post in the Masquerade thread or any of the ball threads, as long as you keep your real name a secret. At the end of each day, return to your normal Yule Ball name. When both Masquerades are over, reveal who you are in the Masquerade thread.

- Decorate A Tree: On the correct days, find the Decorate A Tree thread and choose from a multitude of trees and decorations to create your own very unique tree.

- Snowball Fight: On the appointed days, go the Snowball Fight thread and join in with the mayhem and madness in a special area of the Gardens.

- Build A Snowman: Let your artistic talent shine, as from the objects provided, build your snowman and then decorate it with POTC, LOTR, HP themed accessories as well as many, many more.

- Reveal Secret Santa's: Let all of AU know, to whom you gave tour gifts.

Special Events:

- Caroling: As you move around the forum, bring some Christmas cheer, and with each post, write one line from any carol you wish.

Enno and Sawyer walked in and looked around at all the tress now that they were all cleaned up from the snowball fight. Enno rushed to a tall tree to her right and then looked at the tables covered with decorations. "How should we decorate our tree?" She turned to Sawyer and smiled.
"Hmm." He walked over to the decorations and looked more closely, picking up a couple of things.

Nienna trudged in behind Karl with a smile. "Tree Decorating...What fun!!"

"Yeah..." her hubby agreed, "But how?" She beamed at him and picked up a few decorations, "Oh We'll figure it out!"

Matt sat Anduril down by a roaring fire and pulled a fat medium sized tree towards her. "Now you decorate this while i find you a hot drink."

Aduril opened the box of special Nazgul decorations and giggled evily.
Soon streamers that looked like there were burning festoned the tree, darkside-cookies festoned the branches and miniture nazgul stood sentinal on nine branches. Mt Doom errupeted at the bass, spurting red sparks up through the branches to the top of the tree where a fell beast snapped at them with excitment.

Eariel danced in on Frodo's arm.

"Oh, my!" she exclaimed. "This is lovely! I haven't been here in a while, have I?"

"No, you haven't, and your LotR phase has missed you," Frodo told her a bit reproachfully. When she appeared downcast, he softened.

"Well, go on--how would you like to decorate our tree?"

Trying not to drown in his sunny smile, Eariel replied, "I'd definitely like to choose a theme that fits you, and I think something Elven would work well for that. You have that wonderful, un-hobbit-like Elven beauty, you know--but I won't get into that now. Since my current phase is Avatar, I think it'd be lovely to do something that also fits with my interest in that.

"So do you think we could combine and Elven theme with a Fire Nation theme?" she finished hopefully.

Seeming bemused, Frodo laughed.

"We can certainly try."

"Eariel!" Nurr called as she entered the tree decorating area. "And Frodo too! How lovely to see after such a long time!" With a wave, she turned her attention to a nearby tree. "Oh, stop grousing about decorations, Mat," she said over her shoulder to the young man behind her. "It doesn't have to look professional, and this is all just for fun anyway. Now, what kind of decorations should we do?"

"I dunno," Mat muttered as he shoved his hands into his pockets. "Ones about taverns?" He brightened until he caught sight of Nurr's face. "Fine, fine. Um....all things considered, I'm none to happy with anyone at home. So how about something you know?"

"Awesome," Nurr replied. "Let's see...." She rummaged through the decorations. "Oooh! It's a Serenity ornament! How about a Firefly theme?" Not even bothering to wait for an answer, she plunged into the box. In due time ornaments of the entire crew sat waiting to be hung on the tree. "Oh, and we totally need yellowish lights. You know, like the color of the trail Serenity leaves." She and Mat began wrapping a strand around the tree.

Esteleth and Elladan wandered in. Catching sight of the darkside tree, Esteleth chuckled. "Epic win!" She called to Anduril. Elladan looked at her oddly. "What?"

The elf shook his head. "I worry about you sometimes."

"But it's prettyful," Esteleth responded, pointing at the fell beast on top of the tree.

As they wandered more, they came across Nurr and Mat. "Oh, you're doing a Serenity theme? That's awesome! Hmm, what kind of theme should we do?"

"How about a musical theme?" Elladan suggested, picking up a clarinet ornament from the box. Esteleth nodded and they rummaged through the box. In no time at all they had a nice pile of saxophones, microphones, guitars, pianos, drums, cymbals, triangles, bagpipes, and every other instrument imaginable. Esteleth even managed to find an ornament of Tumnus's pipe from the Chronicles of Narnia.

"Elladan?" She whispered after they had a huge pile of ornaments.

"Hmm?" He was sorting out the rather tangled mess of strings and hooks.

"We don't have a tree picked out."

Karl and Nienna looked up at their tree with a smile. It was an Rather interesting mix of decorations. The tree was decorated with a Variety of Elven and Piraty things, from leaves to miny swords and treasure chests.

Lenya hurried into the room, pulling Ash with her, saying, "Just give it a try. It's fun- honest!" Spotting a spare tree that looked good, she hurried towards it, only to stop short when she saw Nurr's ornaments. "Ooh! Firefly!" She leaned in close to look at all the ornaments. "That's going to be one shiny tree."

After admiring the ornaments, she went on to the tree she had picked out. "Now, how should we decorate it?" Ash shrugged unhelpfully. Lenya studied the tree thoughtfully, then glanced around at the boxes of decorations. Seeing a string of white lights, she said, "I know! How about a black-and-white movie tree? If there are ornaments around here that would work..." She hunted through some boxes until she found one full of decorations having to do with classic movies. "Perfect! You can find just about anything for a tree here." Setting the box down by the tree, she put Ash to work helping her wrap the lights around the branches.

"Thanks Esteleth" called Anduril in reply with a grin. Matt returned with cups of mulled wine. "Now my dear drink this and warm up...what have you done to the tree?"
"Its a Nazgul tree"
"Yes I can see that my love, but I thought you were moveing over closer to the good side..."
"Nope; that was a cunning and evil lie to get you to come to the Ball with me."
He sighed and shook his head trying to surpess a smile. "Well in that case it looks very nice...or evil...or something"
"Thankies, but i can't find any darkside lights."
"Hmmm what about these?" Matt pulled a string of Great Eye lights out of a box and srung them round the tree where they were soon beaming red light around thier tree.

"Good to see you to, Nurr!" Earial called cheerfully back, and Frodo smiled a greeting as well.

Then they turned back to admire their handiwork. Like some of the other trees, it was an odd mix of asian-looking paper lanterns, miniature Elven ships, garlands of red-and-gold or grey-and-green, and in short, anything graceful and/or shimmery.

"Beautiful!" cried Eariel, clapping her hands in delight.

"It is," agreed Frodo, still looking a bit bemused by this conglomeration of his virtual partner's interests. Then they began wandering around to look at the other trees.

"Wow, Anduril, your tree is very...evil," Earil commented with a slightly wicked grin. "I have a soft spot for the dark side, since I, um, kind of fell for the antagonist in Avatar...though I still love Frodo, of course," she added with an apologetic glance at him.

Frodo shook his head resignedly. "Don't worry about it, love."

"Well, then, let's get a tree," Elladan said. He looked around and picked out a tree that wasn't too tall, but not too short, not too scraggly, but not too full.

"It's perfect!" Esteleth said, carrying the pile of ornaments over to it. Together they started hanging the musical instruments all over the tree.

"I'll go find some garland," Elladan said as Esteleth placed a treble clef tree topper on the tree.

Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices...

"Well Mordor is always open to you both" Anduril offered. "I know Mr Frodo has visted before but really its very diffrent now we Nazgul are in charge, its more sort of a huge explosion of hyperness loosely based around a concept of evil. Come on Earial, we have cookies!" She offered a plate of chocolate cookies "And i KNOW i'm slightly infamouse for putting sleeping draught into them at these sort of events but i swear by Morgoth i only spiked the punch this year." She giggled slightly hysterically.

Hoping Morgoth's name was a solomn enough oath for Anduril, Eariel accepted one of the cookies with a tentative "thank you."
Then she added, "We appreciate your invitation to Mordor, too, but at present I think my dear virtual partner has some rather...unfortunate memories of that country." True to her words, Frodo's expression had become slightly perturbed, but he managed a friendly, if nervous, smile.

Eariel continued, "I'm not ruling out ever coming, you see, I'm just not sure when. But thanks again!" She bit into the cookie, and was relieved when she didn't immediately feel drowsy.

"Mmm, this is delicious!"

"Ahhh I quite understand my dear Mr Frodo, if you ever do come I would advise you to come with Eariel becuase otherwise I can't promise we won't feed you to our fellbeasts for old times sake. Of course i would never dream of doing such a thing now, Christmas is a time of truce."
She smiled at Eariel's compliment "Why thankyou, see the darkside is not all bad, we do make cookies to even rivel the WT's."
