Return of the Rings is a yearly event which is hosted in order to bring some of the LotR spirit to the forum, and remind us all why we're here! The Forum is a wonderful place to discuss a million things, and RP lots of stuff, and we tend to lose some of the wonderful Ringyness which brought us all together in the first place.
This year's RotR is a little different from those in the past. This year we are splitting everyone up into teams and will have various challenges in which you can earn points for your team. (Confused already? Think Harry Potter houses.
) The teams will be:
Team Shire, Team Moria, Team Lorien, Team Gondor, and
Team Mordor. The events will range from graphics to writing to trivia to who knows what else.
In order for us to get started, everyone needs to be sorted into teams. It's a very simple process for you - yay! All you have to do is choose your favorite couple or friendship from the list below. Each pairing corresponds to a specific team. Please be fair and honest - don't try and put yourself on a certain team! Just post your reply here.
If you want to take part, don't hesitate to sign up! Even if you can't be around for the whole thing, we want you to be a part of a team. On the evening of June 17th I will distribute names to the team leaders so that we can get started, but you can still sign up after that.
"&" = friendship
"/" = couple
What is your favorite pairing?
Frodo & Sam
Bilbo & Gandalf
Merry & Pippin
Sam/Rosie
Legolas & Gimli
Aragorn/Eowyn
Aragorn/Arwen
Gimli/Galadriel
Eowyn/Faramir
Legolas & Aragorn
---------
Team leaders will contact you to let you know which team you are on. The team leaders will also set up the team threads where you can talk to each other, keep track of points, and bond as a team.
The First Event
After being sorted into teams, we start our first opportunity to get points. Each member of the team may create a team flag
or a team poster
or a team song. It should relate to the area (Lorien, Mordor, etc). If you do it, you earn your team one point. The more people who participate, the more points the team gets.
Questions? Feel free to ask.
