Buckland Border</center>

This year we have been granted the opportunity to conduct our ball in the fields of the Shire. The hobbits of Buckland have graciously opened their town hall to us, as well as the land surrounding it, and, just like all other hobbit parties, they are thrilled to bring the food, ale, presents, and talk has circulated about the appearance of fireworks.

So, in order to thank our gracious hosts, we have been asked to simply attend, have a good time, and not steal too much of their food. I, in behalf of all of the hobbits, am thrilled to see you here, and have a blast at The Brewery.

Two strong, majestic Gondorian horses galloped towards the Buckland Border, carrying Boromir of Gondor and his bride of nearly one year, Lady Goldleaf. Boromir was clad in his formal black-and-silver Gondorian garb, and Goldleaf was clad all in white, a pendant of golden Celtic knots and twists with a dark blue gem in the center at her throat, her golden hair twisted back from her face, and adorned with white flowers. Smiling merrily, she dismounted from her horse and waited for her husband.

She beheld the lights and streamers decorating the border with a smile. "Doesn't it look beautiful?" she said. Boromir dismounted from his horse. He observed the view. This certainly was different from Minas Tirith, but it was charming.
"Quite so," he said with a smile, taking the reigns of his horse. "Where do we leave the horses? There must be stables around here somewhere?"
She shrugged. "Let's just take them with us." As her horse neighed, she patted it's proud grey head. "Ssh." The horse calmed and Goldleaf looked back at Boromir. "I don't see anyone else around here. Where d'you think everyone's got to?"

A small carriage rode up the Buckland Border. Michael Weston alighted from the carriage then turned to help his smiling date, Lor. After thanking their driver, the couple started to take in their surroundings.

"Well this is charming!" Lor exclaimed upon seeing the lights and streamers. "And you didn't want to come," she playfully teased Michael.

Michael sighed and turned towards her. "I freely admit that I was wrong. This looks like it will be very enjoyable." He leaned over and kissed her on the forehead. "But where are your friends? From the way you talked you made it sound like the whole of A-U would be here."

"I guess we must be early. Oo! There's Goldleaf and Boromir. Let's go say hello!" Lor took Michael's offered arm and the two walked over to great the other couple.

"Hello Goldleaf! It seems we're a bit early. I wonder when everyone else will arrive. How have you and Boromir been?"

Goldleaf smiled as Lor and Michael approached them. "Hello!" she said. "Another early couple! At least we didn't arrive late." She laughed. "We've been fine, thanks. We're approaching our 1 year wedding anniversary." She smiled at her husband.

"That's right," Boromir said. "But before we celebrate that we've got a hobbit ball to attend. I've never been to the Shire before."

"Nor I," Goldleaf said. "But it seems like such a friendly place, don't you think? I don't doubt there'll be enough free ale to keep Boromir happy, anyway." Laughter danced in her voice. Boromir shook his head at his wife, amused, and turned to Lor and Michael.

"How're you two doing, anyway?" he enquired.

Two bright, glistening bays drew a black, four-seat buggy towards the Buckland Border. Only two of the buggy seats were currently filled, one with the driver, Walter Blythe, and the other with his wife, Nerissa. Seeing a small group of people with a couple horses thrown in, Walter urged the horses over and hailed the small group. As the buggy stopped, Nerissa waved excitedly at Boromir and Goldleaf, and Michael and Lor. "Hello all!" she called. "Where's the parking?" With an impish grin, she patted Walter's shoulder before sliding quickly out. Quickly rearranging her hair and her floating red dress, she approached the group. "I take it that this is the party so far?"

The preparations had all been laid out and the entire Brandybuck clan had been sweeping and dusting and arranging everything for the Party.

Ashalind was busy tying a red ribbon in her hair when Merry walked in on her. "Come on dear heart!" He teased, "You've taken an hour already!"

She stuck out her tongue at her cousin and peered at her reflection one last time. The curls were fine, dress looked nice... She admitted she was happy with it as she stood up. "What do you think?"

Merry looked at her and smiled. "You look lovely Ash."

Ashalind grinned, "Come on! The guests are arriving!" She grabbed his hand and together they walked out side.

Everything was as festive as could be, and there was a great deal of Big People there already. Merry greeted a group of them nearby, while Ash stood behind him, looking around.

For her husband living in the shire, Prisca was, what she would refer to, rather late to the party. In reality, she was among one of the first guests to arrive, but, in order to get the best food at a hobbit ball, you would have to be the first guest.

Skipping past the border of Buckland, Prisca was excited to be attending, yet another, party this month. The first was for her lovely friend Lily. Came of age, she did. And the second was the wedding of someone her and Pippin had known for quite some time.

In that case... where is that boy? she thought, she would sometimes come with a rather motherly influence to her husband. He needed it. For, as usual, Pippin was about 50 meters behind her, talking with Frodo, or devising. They were one in the same.

"Come on!" Prisca yelled back at Frodo and Pippin. "Before the food grows legs and walks away."

Lor laughed along with Goldleaf. "We're doing fine. I managed to get Michael to take a break from his spy work and accompany me. Not an easy thing to do!"

Lor turned at the sound of another voice. "Hello, Nerissa! Haven't talked to you in awhile! I think this is the party so far...no wait. I take that back. Here comes more. What a festive bunch this is turning into!"

Mira walked arm in arm with Sawyer towards the guests who had already arrived. She paused before she got to close and smoothed down her dress nervously before turning to Sawyer who, as usual, was fidgeting with the sleeves of his suit jacket.
"I can't believe you got me into this."
Mira laughed. "It's just the jacket, I didn't make you wear a full suit. Now come on." She smiled and pulled him along, glad to see the familiar faces of her cousins* Goldleaf and Nerissa.

[*well, I *think* we're cousins? :P ]

Nurr (who was too lazy to change her name when she left Valinor to live in the Shire) ran along the path toward Buckland, turning every now and then to make sure Sam was following her. "Come on Sam!" she called, laughing. "The party will be started without us, and I want food!" She whirled back around and nearly ran into Frodo Baggins.

"Frodo! Nice to see you again!" Like she hadn't seen him three hours ago when she came to collect Sam at Bag End. Still, Nurr was never one to miss a chance to talk.

Elraen wandered over the border to Buckland, alone. The company of elves she traveled with had been passing through the area when she heard about this ball. She had strayed from her companions to attend, eager to observe ways of life she had never seen before. The elf kept her hood up, hiding her white blonde hair. She hoped her presence would not be too strange or out of the ordinary for the Hobbits.

Rosie Silverbrook skipped along the uneven cobblestone path that lead to the brightly lit party. She laughed as her fiance, Wolverine (who she affectionately nicknamed "Wolvie"), lagged behind, grumbling at the sudden light.

"Oh, come on, you silly goose. Since you can't be running people through with those claws of yours, you might as well have fun at a respectable party with me. There will be lots of food and good things to drink, I promise."

Wolverine immediately perked up. Rosie smirked fondly at him and took his offered arm. They walked in comfortable silence together as they approached the party. Rosie's face lit up as she spotted a lone, hooded figure emerging from the shadows.

"Oooh, someone new! And she looks not of these parts, mark my words. Let's go meet her!"

Rosie dragged the grumbling Wolverine over to meet the cloaked elf maiden.

"Nurr!" Frodo yelled, excited, with Pippin yelling the same thing soon behind. "It is so great to see you! How have you been?"

Prisca stood at the entrance of Brandy Hall. She was ready to give up on both Frodo and Pippin and start eating by herself. That is, until she saw Nurr and Sam come along, mainly Nurr.

"Nurr!!!" Prisca yelled and came running. "I hoped you were coming! How are you doing? You hungry?"

"Frodo! Pippin! I'm just fine!" Nurr turned from hugging Frodo and Pippin to Prisca. "Prisca! I'm doing wonderfully, but I sure hope there's some food left! Am I hungry?" She laughed. "I haven't eaten for over three hours! Afternoon tea wasn't really there, since we had to come all the way here."

Nurr sniffed the air - there was some tantalizing scent floating towards her. "It seems like it isn't all gone! Let's go!" Sam joined the group, clapping hands with the others.

Excited that another person was ready for food. "Let's go then before it is all gone," Prisca coaxed Nurr on and ran over to grab Pippin's hand. He was usually desiring food, but he was a bit excited about meeting up with Frodo and talking.

(Let's go to the Brandy Hall thread, Nurr)

Two more Big People approached the group of persons, a certain Esteleth and her fiance, Cadvan of Lirigon. She was dressed in a dark green summer dress with gold accents, and he was wearing his usual black jerkin and carrying his not-at-all-usual casserole dish covered in tin foil with...duct tape?? on the sides. The scent of mushrooms and cheese rose up from it.

"Oh snap, we're late!" Esteleth noticed, blushing and suddenly feeling self conscious.

"It's not my fault you waited to choose your outfit until the last minute. Anyways, what do you want me to do with this...casserole...thing?"

Esteleth shrugged as she looked for familiar faces. "Oh look, there's Rosie and Wolverine!" she exclaimed, grabbing Cadvan's hand and rushing towards them, Cadvan trying not to spill the...casserole...thing.
