It was a bit freaky as they are notorious for "swooping" bicycle riders and cats and anyone they deem a threat to theor nests. But these two siblings I think were just 'practicing' as they seem to like us. I did just mow the back yard though, and was moving it around to the front, so maybe thought it was some motorized monster. Still, I think they were just playing with me. |

The critters here apparently are so busy getting on each other’s nerves that they have no time and / or energy left to annoy those strange bipeds, especially because quite a few have canines of all shapes and sized accompanying them. A certain size hierarchy is noticeable, magpie trumps jay (though we had on big jay here that did not take guff from any magpie), raven / crow trump magpie. But then several magpies occasionally strafe a solitary raven (perhaps a youngster). Blackbirds occasionally do the same to jays, magpies and ravens, but a certain sort of apparently migratory thrush has been keeping all larger birds away when they have been breeding here. I think I’ve seen them send off even buzzards, they attack in squadron strength, and from all corners. Squirrels are nervous about flying things to variable degrees – buzzards and some falcons are capable of taking at least injured adults. Some, after noticing that the flying shadow that scared them was “only” a raven, will occasionally charge even the ravens in a contest for peanuts and walnuts (for walnuts, the ravens are the only competitors, no other bird here can carry one away). |

Members of the corvidae family are exceptionally intelligent. I have no doubt they were playing with you, Hanasían. Many years ago an acquaintance of my father's had a raven that he had rescued as a fledgling. He was very clever, and affectionate. |

Last night there were two hares grazing on our meadow. Purely size-wise, in a nose-to-nose encounter with way over half of the pooches romping on or passing by the meadow, they would lead the nose-contacted pooches to “yikes!” induced involuntary manure deposits. |

How the hell can someone snore so damn loudly? It sounds like there's a water buffalo in my house. Are the sinuses okay? Geez. |

I once stayed in a classy hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland and there was a guest two rooms over who snored so loudly he literally kept the guests on the three floors awake. His wife was in the same room and I was surprised she hadn't suffocated him with his pillow to shut him up. |

After re-reading books two and three of Frank McCourt’s “Irish Trilogy”, I once again tackled his first, rightly praised, rightly nerve-rattling accusation at the western, specifically Anglophone, world, “Angela’s Ashes”. Almost finished. |

I'm going to start rereading The Wheel of Time but I have to dig the books out of the bookcase. This major undertaking will occur after I've sorted out the crap on the floor . |

I'm thinking of sending some specialized Massachusetts made only fine chocolates to a couple of friends in California for Christmas, but I cannot decide what to send. There's so many choices. |

Why do some people feel the need to talk to me through the bathroom door? Let me s*** in peace, your conversation is not that important. |
