Kidney stones really, really suck!

:confused2: Ouch! Luckily, I have been spared such discomforts to date. These, and gallbladder stones, are occasionally treated with what I remembered as some sort of ultrasonic pulse treatment. Apparently the technical term is extracorporeal shockwave therapy. Did you have such treatment?

Nope. I had bilateral ureteroscopies where the left kidney stone was moved to the top of the kidney so it can be surgically removed at a date as yet unknown, and the right kidney stone was blasted with a holmium laser.

OK. Didn't understand all (in fact many) of the details, and I'm guessing I might not really want to. But I'll take the hint from the Rant thread and keep drinking coffee, even if the smell of the grounds has taken a turn for the worse in recent times, as I've groused often (there are other reasons we still drink coffee, obviously).

I'm waiting for a consent form to come from the hospital so the remaining stone can be removed. :confused2:

Bought two new pairs of trousers as my older ones have almost all gotten too tight.

I've gotten only five and half hours of sleep in the last two days...I don't know I am still able to even function.

Lugged a batch of paper to the paper recycling container (75% of it, more by weight, is advertising and catalogs my wife gets - you order something just once, they keep sending them; the newspapers are small change by comparison). Then trundled over to the tin cans and glass recycling containers (there are three separate ones of those for "white", i.e. clear glass, green and brown glass; some wine bottles are a toss-up between the last two in color). Now when I had been to the paper container, I thought "ah well, a bit nippy, but those other containers are not that far away, and there's no wind."

Now I trundle over to our eight-floor apartment building's collection of garbage / recycling containers on the west side. The neighborhood tin and glass containers are about a quarter of a mile away on the east side. Well, suddenly, there is a bit of a wind - east wind. We normally have westerly wind, perhaps two thirds to three quarters of the time (maybe even more). But so far this year, we have had an unusual amount of easterly winds. That blasted (and large) high pressure system over eastern Europe has bee keeping the low pressure systems originating in the north Atlantic that are mainly rsponsible for our weather, and the predominantly westerly winds, at bay, hence also the so far record-breaking drought this year.

It's lovely and sunny here, but only 4°C and it's mid-afternoon.

Close to midnight here and temperatures are still around 10°C (50°F). Definitely too warm for the time of year (whenever the skies are clear, as they are presently not, we do have frost during the night).

One of my co-workers thinks I should ask for a management position.

"So, I hear you are running this place now. We need an assistant manager."
