Sorry for the delay, but now that I have the time, let's get this party started, shall we?
Since both the wedding reception and the upcoming Durin's Day celebration were held (or were about to be) in Erebor, Thorin decided to have Marida's birthday celebration in Laketown. Marida was in Erebor when the dragon attacked, so it seemed fitting to show her the place where he met his end. The party was to be a surprise, so Marida, their daughter, Turien, and Turien's new husband, Faramir, were to arrive at a later time. Thorin just wondered how they would convince Marida to come, since wasn't it some kind of "celebration" that was to be held in Erebor the way her father first convinced Marida to come to the mountain kingdom when they first got together (though it was hardly their first meeting)?
It still amazed Thorin how quickly offspring like Turien settled down with a spouse of their own, but since Laketown was closer to Erebor than it was to Ithilien, it may take them a while to arrive. He also knew that since both Erin and Thranduil were invited (as were the rest of the family), he would have to deal with the Elven King again, but he promised Marida that he would try to be civil to him, especially since they were all part of one large family.

The upcoming party was something that Queen Lónannûniel had thought about. To make sure they did not ruin the occasion, all the king and queen of the woodland realm had done for the last week was argue, to get it out of their system. Which baffled all of their elven subjects. They were to believe that peace had settled between the couple, since the whole event of their queen running away to Erebor.
Once Legolas noticed a pattern in their arguing (all the time, even conversation was shouted), he encouraged others to create reasons for the couple to vent out their anger at one another. One or two may have chosen the wrong time to do so, and ended up in the jails. They learned the hard way not to enrage an already angered king and queen.
When they left the gates together, calm once again lingered between the couple. They met very few disturbances along the journey. An orc pack did try to cause trouble, but they now lay dead on the floor of the forest. It would take at least a week before their allies would find them, if the spiders of the forest did not find them first. Two guards followed, but they would not attend the actual party, merely stay on the borders of the laketown guarding the king’s elk, and the queen’s horse. They would come to their aide, if trouble were to occur.
The queen had brought a gift for Marida, that she had made herself. It was not nearly as great as some of the treasures of the dwarven mountain, but she hoped it would be appreciated.
Erin and Thranduil entered the kingdom on foot, together. Some of the local children were in awe of them, as they were to all royalty that had attended the party. Erin herself felt quite happy to be wearing a dress with the feel of the summer, but not nearly long enough for her to trip on. She held her gift, wrapped in the most beautiful of leaves she could find, tied together with flowers weaved together like string.
