Bought a packet of coffee ground in today’s cupboards & fridge raid. The list of stuff to buy is always my wife’s. Not complaining about this legal drug. |

I ran out of cream for my coffee, but had some of the white powder substitute on hand, and used it. Lord, it was bad! Aced out after I got it down, and bought some cream, after which I debated whether or not to make a fresh brew. After much debating with myself, I decided I wouldn't sleep tonight if I drank coffee in the middle of the afternoon.

My wife still speculates that something went wrong with the storage of ground coffee "recently". And that any coffee packages with use-best-before-dates in 2019 are affected by this storage degradation, so she’s hoping for the 2020 batch. I still think it has to do with (to consumers) invisible upstream organization of production facilities, secret (semi-) cartels. Like there are now only a handful of roasters / grinders or whatever supplying the nominally great variety of retail brands, which again are really controlled by a handful of conglomerates which have been allowed to form due to political interference with nominally independent anti-trust regulators. Meaning as far as high-volume retail brands world-wide are concerned, we’re all getting the same, excuse my French, crap. |
